A black box in your car? Some see a source of tax revenue

They have been talking about this in commercial vehicles for years and it is having a real hard time passing, but to put it in cars is getting a little bit to much up front and personal, all so the Government can get a new tax to fix roads, I thought the stimulus was going to tack care of that , and what ever happened to no one making under such a such a year will see new taxes, most own a vehicle and use it so taxes across the board .



WASHINGTON — As America's road planners struggle to find the cash to mend a crumbling highway system, many are beginning to see a solution in a little black box that fitsneatly by the dashboard of your car.
The devices, which track every mile a motorist drives and transmit that information to bureaucrats, are at the center of a controversial attempt in Washington and state planning offices to overhaul the outdated system for funding America's major roads.
The usually dull arena of highway planning has suddenly spawned intense debate and colorful alliances. Libertarians (http://www.latimes.com/topic/politics/parties-movements/libertarian-party-ORGOV000277.topic)have joined environmental groups in lobbying to allow government to use the little boxes to keep track of the miles you drive, and possibly where you drive them — then use the information to draw up a tax bill.

The funny thing is that they try to come up with the "great new technology" to track the miles driven in your car. Uhh here's a thought, when you go in for your inspection why not LOOK at the odometer?!?!!?!?!?

IF they wanted to do this and ONLY look at miles a form could be sent to fill out to give the miles driven and only check that the odometer reading matches at periodic inspections for your plates!!!

These F@@@ing geniuses always look for some way to "make things easier" when in fact it is all about employing some friend or being able to spy on the average American. Don't think for a minute that this is anything other than a way to intrude on our lives and monitor our driving habits to be included in any and all accidents. Like a posted if they are ONLY interested in the mileage we already have a device for that and it is in EVERY car already!!!!!!!!!!!

There is nothing outdated for taxing fuel to pay for road costs. The amount of fuel used is an accurate measurement of vehicle weight and size, and larger, heavier vehicles use up more road space and cause more wear on the road structure.

The only exception to this are electric or hybrid cars. They are a tiny fraction of the nation's fleet, and they are generally smaller vehicles that cause very little damage to the road system. GovCo subsidizes their purchase with tax incentives, so if they stop that the savings will pay for that portion of lost fuel tax revenue.

This stupid black box scheme is nothing more than GovCo's wish to track us, spy on us and ultimately control us.

I'm curious as to how much they need to repair the roads every year. The Federal and Local gas tax for the year of 2011 totaled $41,227,355,000.00 for just 1 year.. Now how much do they need annually to fix the roads??????? Now in 1977 the total was $9,163,553,000.00.

So in 35 years there is almost 5 times the income from fuel taxes alone.. Once again how much do they need annually to fix the roads????
