City of Seattle: Eminent Domain over a parking lot to turn it into a parking lot

Notes: Construction downtown. City asks private parking lots to reduce prices to that of public parking as a favor to 'the city'; would keep folks who normally park from having to pay more.

At least one lot refused. City siezed the lot and now will use it for city parking.

I saw the headlines for this earlier this morning but admittedly didn't read the story. This is just all kinds of wrong, IMO. Build another competing lot if they want, but "stealing" someone's business in order to force discounts for others is - well it's kind of like some in Washington who think the richer should pay for the poor.
