View Full Version : DNC Nearly broke
http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2013/09/30/dnc-debt-crisis/?iid=SF_F_River
There's another budget crisis in Washington, and it's unfolding inside the Democratic party. The Democratic National Committee remains so deeply in the hole from spending in the last election that it is struggling to pay its own vendors.
It is a highly unusual state of affairs for a national party -- especially one that can deploy the President as its fundraiser-in-chief -- and it speaks to the quiet but serious organizational problems the party has yet to address since the last election, obscured in part by the much messier spectacle of GOP infighting.
The Democrats' numbers speak for themselves: Through August, 10 months after helping President Obama secure a second term, the DNC owed its various creditors a total of $18.1 million, compared to the $12.5 million cash cushion the Republican National Committee is holding.
GOOD! Way in the hole, hopefully that hurts their efforts to buy votes next time around.

Democrats fear Obama group will siphon money from them WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama’s decision to launch his own political organization has some Democrats wondering: Is he just in it for himself?
Obama’s new group, Organizing for Action, will focus on his policy agenda – not on electing Democratic candidates – by raising unlimited amounts of cash and accessing the president’s secret list of 20 million supporters, volunteers and donors.
The operation won’t share money, resources or the priceless Obama email list with the Democratic National Committee or campaign committees that help elect members of Congress, governors and legislators. And it has no plans to coordinate efforts, leading some Democrats to worry that it will take money and manpower away from the party as it heads into the 2014 elections for control of Congress.
<!-- story_feature_box.comp --> <!-- /story_feature_box.comp --> “There’s only so much money to go around in Democratic circles. There’s a limited pool of resources,” said Gilda Cobb Hunter, a South Carolina legislator and a member of the Democratic National Committee. (http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2013/04/01/187421/www.democrats.org/) “Why can’t we strengthen one entity?”
Several DNC members said in interviews that they weren’t told about Organizing for Action’s formation until it was publicly announced in January. They said that when they’d complained, they were chastised and told by national and state party leaders not to speak publicly. Most spoke to McClatchy only on the condition of anonymity in order to talk candidly about the internal party dispute.
Party Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a congresswoman from Florida, tried to alleviate concerns in a conference call with Democrats in March, stressing that the groups wouldn’t compete for money and resources in part because they had different missions.

</section>WASHINGTON — Organizing for Action, the non-profit advocacy group promoting President Obama's policies, collected $8.2 million between April and June, the group reported Friday afternoon.
That's up from nearly $4.9 million during the first three months of the year. More than 237,000 people have donated to the organization, which aims to activate Obama's campaign supporters to back his second-term agenda on immigration, health care, gun control and other issues.

The group voluntarily discloses information on its overall fundraising and provided the names of roughly 3,700 donors who have given $250 or more, although it is not required to do so as a not-for-profit organization.
A total of 63 people donated at least $5,000 to the group. Their contributions — totaling more than $4.1 million — account for nearly a third of the $13.1 million raised since the start of the year.

Hilarious, their Frankenstein monster getting out on his own like this. It couldn't happen to a more deserving group.
Not that they have anything to worry about though. Soros will write a check come election time and bail them out once again.
This DNC being broke and the humor of it reminded me of another story a buddy passed on to me. From these people:
http://www.welcomehome.org/rainbow/calm/
He sent it out without comment, and we all read it and saw the humor in a bunch of leftists realizing their utopia doesn't work...
CALM IS BROKE AND NEEDS MONEY This is truly serious. From the beginning
of rainbow, CALM has always been given a specific percentage of the bank so
that we could have the supplies to provide totally free health care and, in
a number of cases, absolutely life-saving care. The percentage that we
have gotten had a range, but usually was around 15% of the hat. In 2006
everything changed. The bank refused to reimburse any of our
expenditures, even when we presented them with receipts. Since that time
the bank has constantly refused to give us a penny, again, even with
receipts. In PA we were promised money to purchase a new stretcher in trade
for not reimbursing us for our receipts for the supplies that we purchased;
however the bank then spent the money on other things and we never got any
money. In the end, one of our members bought a new stretcher out of his
own pocket at the cost of many hundreds of dollars. What that has meant is
that basically 6 people have been paying for the health care needs of the
gathering. And what I am talking about is thousands of dollars coming out
of just a few people's pockets.
This has come to a crisis level as many of us who have been supporting CALM
are no longer willing to shell out booco bucks when the family does not
seem to give health care any type of priority status. Personally I decided
not to spend money on CALM this year. But in reality I have already
shelled out hundreds of dollars and I still need to purchase more supplies.
When I talked to bankers last year, they suggested that we ask folks for
money when we give them services. ?The kitchens pass the magic hat when
they feed people. Why don?t you do the same.? We can not do that.
Why? Because
we are covered by the Good Samaritan Act and if we charge for our services
it is illegal and those of us who are licensed in other states are at risk
for legal repercussions. Therefore when we give someone an ace bandage,
or clean out a wound, or give them tylenol, or an herbal formula, all of
the supplies are given gratis. Our presence at the Gathering helps to
decrease the need for people to go to the local ER. Rainbow prides
itself on leaving a small footprint on the local community. This is why we
do such a thorough clean-up. But if there is so little support for those
who provide health care services for the family, we will begin to tax the
local medical community. Since we are generally in rural areas where there
are often sparse medical options for the local population, forcing people
to go to the local health care facilities can often put a real burden on
these communities.
This situation has to stop. When I suggested to the bankers last year
that maybe the bank could give a little less to central supply and
encourage them to spend most of the central supply money on basics and not
spend money on buying supplies to make zuzus so that CALM had money to take
care of health care needs, some bankers suggested that I go to the folks
running central supply and ask them to give me some money. How do you
explain to someone who is buying coffee and sugar with hat money that we
need some of that money to fill the oxygen tanks and to reimburse the gas
money that our drivers use to drive people to the hospital during a medical
emergency?
Supporting CALM needs to become a priority once again. We are very
careful in how we spend the money and how we care for the supplies. We
know how to buy our supplies economically. We store our supplies from
year to year and transport them to and from the gathering. We need to
have a variety of different supplies on hand because we never know from
year to year what supplies will actually be needed. Sometimes we see a
lot of burns and thus need to have those supplies. Sometimes we have a
lot of sprains, so we need to have those supplies on hand as well. Unlike
a kitchen which can plan ahead and only bring in what they will need, we
never know from year to year what might actually manifest. No one plans
to have a heart attack at a gathering. However we are prepared at all
times for that possibility and need to have the supplies to deal with that
if it occurs.
WHAT CAN BE DONE? Either the family needs to decide that it wants to
support health care services at the gathering or make sure that you
personally have an insurance card on you because the local ER won?t take a
hug as payment. I am hoping that the Rainbow Council consense that a
percentage of the Magic Hat once again is given to CALM. Talk to the
Rainbow bankers and tell them to make sure that CALM gets money. Send
money to our PayPal account at sandyfoot@gmail.com. Give cash or a check
to one of the CALM bankers. I can assure you that all of them can be
trusted as they all put in way more money into supplies then they get back.
Please do not bring in all of your old prescription medications. We can
not distribute them to other gatherers as we could get into legal problems.
If you have supplies that you would like to donate, please check with us
first as they may not be what we really need. It is a real chore having
to haul out a bunch of useless stuff during clean-up and then dispose of it
properly. If you plan to bring supplies, check with us first by sending an
email to calm@welcome to make sure that this is something that we can use.
Feel free to email me personally if you have any questions or comments. I
have a smart phone and can answer you even if I am on the road.
The healers are here to serve the family. It is time for the family to
