Cal Worthington Dies at 92

Okay, so there may be some of you who are not familiar with Cal Worthington, but I would venture to say that there are very few people in the western states who don't know his name. He built an automotive dealership empire starting in the 1940s in Southern California it grew to most western states, Texas and Alaska. His television commercials were the stable of local television, always featuring his dog Spot, which was never a dog.

I actually remember those old commercials, he did all his own stunts. Saturday afternoon movies was where he did most of his advertising. Or late night movies. They were always edited to fit the time slots and the commercials were always long.

I didn't know he was still alive this long. He did try to make his boring car commercials entertaining.

I lived in Orange county from 61 to 73 so I remember him real well. RIP Cal.

Those who remember the Carson Show also knew about CAL. Johnny always talked about him, and his ART FERN act..I suspect, was based on Car Dealers like CAL.

Funny stuff, and CAL loved it. Made big money and name recognition.

Missed that show. But, I'll bet Johnny ate that up, and took it as far as he could.

I have lived in and around Orange County for all my life. You couldn't watch TV back in the day without watching a Cal Worthington commercial. RIP.
