My daughter called me yesterday with a problem. She's at college, and drove to church in the late morning, and the Mustang was making clicking noises. When she got back to her parking lot, a huge remote lot that is gated and patrolled, she found that all the lug nuts were loose, and one was missing altogether.
I just bought those wheels 4 months ago and rotated them three weeks ago. Each time I torqued them on with my new click wrench, so I know that they couldn't all come loose by themselves. 17" take-offs with new tires for $1100.
Best I figure, someone had been scoping out the lot for wheels, loosened hers and probably a few others to make the second step, jack and steal, go faster.
She made a police report on it. I hope they catch the bastages. A good opportunity for a police sting operation if there ever was one.
