Personally I think we are pretty much there but I am interested in what others think ?



I hear a lot of people complaining that the Obama Administration is leading us down a path where one day we will be living in a police state. I ask you this: What do you consider “a police state?” Does it mean residing a place where authorities are standing in your living room, watching everything you do and waiting to place you in shackles if you violate any new “thought police” statutes? Is it like the Old Soviet Union or the current North Korean regime? What?

We are not currently a police state. But we are on the path.
With the increasing call for security>freedom and the increasing reliance on the government for sustenance and aid we will see the increasing power of the federal government.

Cloward-Piven (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloward%E2%80%93Piven_strategy), Obama hates freedom, etc. What all these socialists (Read communists in training) fail to see is that by placing the power of ensuring equality into one groups hands gives them the power to go Lenin/Stalin on the populace. In addition the cries for tolerance and 'individuality' now will not be tolerated by such a power, as once it is in power it will no longer need its support base, and in fact this base poses a serious threat to it. add a new education curriculum and bam! Our socialist and pseudo-caring society is now as communist as dreamed of by the Soviets.

Sort of what the Navy kid said. ;) However, when it comes to writing something online, whether on a forum like this or one's own site, that the feds come knocking? You are in a police state. When a SWAT team, armed in paramilitary gear hits your home, you are in a police state.

Those are definite giveaways.

The last time I looked, we still had a Constitution, fair and legal elections and a separation of powers. We will never be a police state, can't be a police state nor moving towards one.

Im amused at such paranoia given how divided this nation is; probably more divided thanks to this inept buffoon of a President than at any other time in the last 10 decades.

:drama: If you stop channeling Chamberlain long enough to take a really good look you'd see that your bolded comment is absurd. How many murdered millions said things like that? No way, not us, not us in a million years. We have zoomed over halfway there in less than 5 years with Obama. It doesn't take a genius to see that the same gun that protects you can be turned on you if you give control of it to the wrong party. The U.S. government has the biggest gun in the world...and its damn sure been turned on us...We are almost certainly less than a decade away from a dictatorship. Could it take longer? Sure but then again it could come a lot sooner too. Our being divided is not mere happenstance but is instead part of an agenda being followed by Obama. That agenda has the goal of destroying our Constitution and taking away our 2nd ADMENDMENT rights. I don't "channel" Chamberlain; he was an idiot. If I "channel" anyone it would be Churchill; one of my heros and idols. As for your comments about others who have said this; there is a HUGE difference which you seem to want to avoid or not acknowledge, they didn't have OUR Constitution.
