It started as a revolt against a bus fare increase and has now grown to 3 million in the streets in 80+ cities. Don't listen to the US medias bullcrap about this being "Brazil's occupy Wall Street". It's about a take all and give nothing government. Most of the protesters are middle class and are tired of being milked in the name of the "pobre coitado" (pitiful poor). The Worker's Party has maybe 55% of the population in their pocket with "Bolsa Familia" (Food Stamps). The plan was for the other 45% to quietly pay the freight. It appears they have had enough. They either want their money's worth in government services or stop being stuck with the bill. The protestors are energized by the lie being presented for the World Cup and the Olympics by making the tourist experience first rate while leaving crap for the people. At least this once CNN appears to do a better job reporting than the others.
For an illustration go to mercadolivre.com.br (an Ebay company) and see prices in manufactured/imported goods. The VAT DOUBLES prices. In the labor arena, government mandated expenses are 130+% of payroll, meaning more goes to the government than to the employee. That's just TWO of many taxes.
What if the 40-45% just start refusing to pay? You can't lock up 40% of the population. And even if you tried and confiscated all assets, you can only do that once.

Sadly. If most of America continues to ignore what Obama, and the Democrats are busy doing to this nation. There is a distinct possibility WE THE PEOPLE could soon see what is happening in Brazil....Taking place across this nation as well.
Anyone who laughs at this, or rolls their eyes...declaring what I said above as "ANOTHER SKY IS FALLING" Con from the Right. Needs to stay quiet, and live with the hopes....I am wrong in order to allow them the opportunity to say "See, I told you so!"

I'm hoping they are successful. It could be an example of how to save a country from socialism. If the takers learn the gravy train will stop if the producers are not taken care of, it could represent a sea change.
