A 33-year-old Knoxville, Tenn. man with 30 children appeared in court this week to ask the state for child-support help, Memphis news station WREG (http://wreg.com/2012/05/16/tn-man-fathers-30-kids-but-cant-support-any/) reported Wednesday.
Desmond Hatchett has fathered 30 children -- which is believed to be the record in Knox county, according to the Los Angeles Times (http://www.latimes.com/news/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-tennessee-man-has-30-kids-20120518,0,4036567.story)-- with 11 different women. His youngest children are toddlers and his oldest is 14.
Hatchett reportedly asked the court to give him a break (http://wreg.com/2012/05/16/tn-man-fathers-30-kids-but-cant-support-any/) on his payments, claiming that he's struggling to make ends meet with his minimum-wage job (http://www.latimes.com/news/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-tennessee-man-has-30-kids-20120518,0,4036567.story). Currently, the state requires him to divide 50 percent of his earnings among the 11 women, some of whom receive as little as $1.49 a month, WREG reports.

A Tennessee man who has fathered a whopping 22 children by 14 different women has been pulled into court for unpaid child support.
Orlando Shaw, 33, of Nashville, told local News Channel 5 (http://www.newschannel5.com/story/22500729/deadbeat-dad-fathers-22-children-by-14-women) he'd lost count of how many kids he had by how many mothers – he mused he'd fathered "roughly" 18 kids with 17 women – but there was no way he'd ever be able to support them.
"To be honest with you, don't nothing come to a dreamer … I go everywhere looking for a job, where am I going to get one with my lengthy record?" Shaw told the station, referring to a criminal record that has made it hard for him to land work.

"I'm just hoping one day I'll get lucky and might scratch off the numbers or something. I play the hell out of the Tennessee lottery," he said.
"They're my kids, I love my kids and I could (not) care less what anybody else thinks about it," he added.
With the help of the state's child support services, Shaw's exes sued him for years of unpaid child support, the station reported.
So far, the state has been covering his tab, amounting to more than $7,000 a month to feed and clothe his massive brood.

Looks like Tennessee is ground zero for blacks squiring offspring out of wedlock.





Three men in Tennessee have notched up a staggering 78 children by 46 different women between them - and are doing their best to squirm out of paying for a single one.
Terry Turnage has 23 children with 17 different women, while Richard M. Colbert has 25 children with 18 women. But Desmond Hatchett takes the record with 30 children with 11 women. [he's the guy in the OP]

On rare occasions, they pay a few dollars to the long-suffering mothers but mostly leave the state to pick up the slack - while one eludes his responsibilities altogether thanks to a stint in prison.

The latest deadbeat dad to emerge from the state is Turnage, who was summoned before a judge over child support payments for his 23 kids by 17 different women - but didn't show up to court.
