I've got the internet link running as well as CNN on the TV.

CNN says a tornado has touched down about three miles outside of Moore and it's moving toward the town...

They should considerer renaming the town.

I've been watching it all night. Fox has had a direct connection with a storm chaser and following everything closely. The storm hit and did a lot of damage to OKC and surrounding area. Multiple tornadoes. Still not much known yet as to the extent of damage.

Good grief, those poor people have had enough already. A storm season getting this bad this early is not a good sign. The only people happy with all this are the insane storm chasers.

Tornado season is pretty much over.

It hit my Uncles house in Yukon and did some damage. He has a storm cellar in his garage though, so he and his family are fine.

Tornado season is pretty much over.

Not really over, but hardly early in the season. March through August and up until the last couple weeks, an un-normally quiet year.

Tornadoes can occur any month but there is a time when they are most prevalent.

Tornado season by region

In the U.S., tornado season tends to move northward from late winter to mid-summer. In Southern states, tornado season is typically from March to May. In the Southern Plains, it lasts from May to early June.

Tornado Alley refers to a strip of land going north to south that covers the northern region of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, the eastern edge of Colorado, southwest tip of South Dakota and the southern edge of Minnesota. Tornadoes in this area typically occur in the late spring.

Like I said, tornado season is practically over.

In truth, all year is pretty much tornado season in Oklahoma. But the prime conditions begin around late March and go through August in a typical year.

posting the statistics is all well and good for someone who has never lived in tornado ally. For the people who live in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas and for those who have family there, tornado season isn't over yet. All summer people will watch the sky and listen to the radio when a storm is coming.

Regardless of that, Tornado season is almost over in that part of the country. And I see my share of tornadoes where I live, not that it changes the stats I posted.
