Teacher Fired for Praying in School During Oklahoma Tornado (http://www.palookavillepost.com/2013/05/25/teacher-fired-for-praying-in-school-during-oklahoma-tornado/)
(PP)- Friday a teacher working at an Oklahoma school hit hard by a devastating tornado this week was fired after admitting she had prayed out loud during the horrific event, and that a complaint was filed by an atheist family of a kindergarten student who was offended by the Christian prayer.
Paulina Trumble, 52, a twenty three year veteran educator at Briarwood Elementary School in Moore, Oklahoma knew she was in trouble the moment the cyclone passed after realizing she had uttered out loud a prayer to the Almighty, violating strict separation of church and state laws.“In a moment when I believed we were all going to die I naturally sought comfort from the only place I knew,” said Trumble....
The family, who’s name is being kept anonymous for their own protection, filed the complaint with the school through an ACLU attorney even though the teacher was responsible for saving the life of their six year old child.
...
“Saving the life of my client’s child was Ms. Trumble’s responsibility and is to be expected,” said ACLU attorney Donald Ambulachasky.

Same 'ole shat. The rights of the atheist trumps the religious rights of the Christian. When our government promotes this it should be attacked by any and every means possible for it has decided to do away with freedom of religion by doing so. -Tyr

A kindergartener was offended by a prayer...puhleeese. I think the parents of that child need to be taken behind the wood shed and beat with the left arm of their lawyer. What lowlifes.

So a kid whose safety the teacher was praying for survived the killer tornado and this is the thanks she gets from the parents?
Too bad the kid didn't die, it would have proven to the kid's dopey atheist parents that God indeed doesn't exist. I'm sure they would have preferred it that way.

And why is it OK for a teacher to be denied her 1st Amendment rights?

I strongly suspect the story is a hoax.
Just did a quick search based on your hunch and found this:
Updated: After further investigation The Daily Sheeple has determined that, in all likelihood, the following report is a hoax with no factual evidence to support it.
We have reviewed school records (http://beforeitsnews.com/r2/?url=http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:xynopVIRJzoJ:www.mooreschools.com/site/default.aspx%3Fpagetype%3D1%26siteid%3D190%26chann elid%3D195%26directorytype%3D6+http://www.mooreschools.com/site/Default.aspx%3FPageType%3D1%26SiteID%3D190%26Chann elID%3D195%26DirectoryType%3D6&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us) for the Briarwood Elementary School in Oklahoma City, OK, and were unable to locate a staff member by the name of Paulina Trumble.

If it is indeed a hoax, they need to drag the sorry piece of shit who wrote the story out into the street for a thorough ass-kicking.

It is a hoax. I was in the process of posting the rebuttal as Jim did earlier but something else came up and I had to attend to other matters. Happily Jim posted links so I won't.

i have zero tolerance for religion in the class room.... and in my opinion all teachers should be fired for doing so...
but this is ridiculousness! Praying to a god to save your skin during a tornado not something she should be punished or fired for.
Its rather like the idea there are no atheists in a foxhole.

The actual teacher that admitted she prayed was not fired. And her name is not the name cited in the OP.

Lucky the teacher wasn't Muslim or the tornado would have been treated as a terrorist attack.

I have to agree the last one I drove through sounded just like a oncoming train and no there wasn't no idiot scream for Allah
But on a serious note as I had been talking about three of my kids had graduations recently and at all three they said the pledge of allegiance and had a prayer , thats one reason I like living in the country we still have some values

What? I can see doing the least discipline possible to avoid a lawsuit, but zero tolerance? Any time I hear the phrase "zero tolerance" I think of totalitarianism.
