A proposed law introduced in the California State legislature would allow public school children to use bathrooms designated for members of the opposite sex, if that students' "gender identity" differed from the students biological sex.
Assembly Bill 1266, introduced by Democratic Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, who represents a section of the city of San Francisco would:
"...require that a pupil be permitted to participate in sex-segregated school programs and activities, including athletic teams and competitions, and use facilities consistent with his or her gender identity, irrespective of the gender listed on the pupil's record."
While the bill does not specifically mention restrooms, restrooms and locker rooms are generally considered to be part of the "facilities" in schools throughout the country.
The bill would apparently also require that biological males be permitted to try out for, and play on, girls' sports teams if they identify themselves as females.
The Pacific Justice Institute, a legal defense group that champions traditional causes has set up a website opposing the so called "bathroom bill."
The website, Gender Insanity.com warns against the bill with a statement that reads:
" Picture this ... your 7 year-old daughter comes home from school in tears. You ask her what's wrong and she says she's afraid to go to the bathroom at school because a boy comes in while she's there. Outraged, you call the school to demand an explanation. You're told that your daughter is telling the truth, but because the boy says he wants to be a girl, their hands are tied. "It's the law."

Gender identity has to be one of the most absurd ideas ever devised by human beings.

I'm going to try this at Equinox later, see if they let me change/shower and go into the sauna with the other gals, just like me. :)
EVEN IF, even if they want to continue with this gender identity crap, they should make THEM conform to normality and not having everyone else inconvenienced by their defectiveness.

If you got XX, you're a chick.
You got XY, you're a dude. Simple as that.
My question, if you "gender identified" yourself as the opposite sex, wouldn't you want to be in your own (physical) sex's gym locker room?

...you clearly don't understand the difference between gender and sex. To the point where your sentences don't make sense.
Nor fir that matter does the OP bill *bangs head against wall*

Fortunately for me, I understand the difference. "Gender Identity" is a completely made up idea and it's utter bullshit.

Noir. So. How bout you explain it to us? What's the difference between YOUR gender, and YOUR sex?
Or, are you going to tell us they are not the same?
If so. Do you also live in THAN FRAN THISCO?

Sex is a biological term, referring to male and female, most animals and plants only have one or two sexes, but i have read about very rare triple sex species.
Gender on the other had is a social and cultural identity, resulting in gender roles. Take (for example) the wearing of make-up, today thats considered feminine, should a man delight in wearing it, he'd probably be mocked by many members on this board. Yet you need only go back a few generations, when men would wear makeup as part of their image, to show that they belonged to the higher classes (or atleast, wanted it to look like they did) makeup was not a gender identifier, moreso a social status identifier. Likewise if you go to scotland then wearing a skirt is seen a feminine, but not if a man wears a kilt, after all, thats different right? Except its not, we made up the difference in our heads, so one man wearing one skirt is being 'masculine' while the same man wearing another skirt is 'feminine'. But the important point is, no matter which skirt the man wears, it has no bearing on his sex.
Fortunately for me, I understand the difference. "Gender Identity" is a completely made up idea and it's utter bullshit.
So you don't think there is any such thing as masculine and feminine?

Yep, there is. But feminine guys still use the boys room and masculine girls still use the girls room. Just because one feels a certain way shouldn't allow them to disrupt others who feel normal.

apparently, the argument is this...
Sex = male and female
Gender = masculine and feminine
So, a feminine male should apparently be allowed to use the ladies room, because he 'feels', well, feminine.
Ridiculous.

Good lord, sometimes i wonder if you people can read.
IMO the OP (and thus the bill) have it *wrong*. by using gender and sex as different words for the same term.
But you're too busy trying to think up witty comments to consider that apparently.
Also, as a (relevant) aside, i think the solutions simple, unisex toilets, then again, we're probably not prepared for such an unimaginable place...

Let me break this down then for an easy answer - do YOU think someone of the opposite gender, for WHATEVER reason, should be allowed to use the other genders facilities? If the plumbing is different, do you support them going into other sexes locker rooms and bathrooms?

Wonderful NON-ANSWER Noir.
Actually, it was pretty good... Compared to what usually comes out of your writings.
And uh, unisex bathrooms would just be gross.
It's not like us gentlemen have a hard enough time not farting in front of women.
Call me old fashioned, but I like chivalry.

jim. Of course Noir does. Why else would it be brought up? On the same token, which Noir ignored. Perhaps Noir would like to see the installation of Feminine Product Dispensers in MEN'S ROOMS, to keep him happy, and his TWINKLE-TOED idea's working.

As i said in my first post on this thread (and again in the post you quoted), the bill has it wrong imo.
So *NO*
If that's no clear enough, idk what to do.

I'm confused.
If I'm out deer hunting and I see a 6 pronger sashaying through the woods wearing lipstick and eyeliner, is it still OK to treat it like a buck? Or should I treat it like a doe?

The mere fact you choose to use that language so freely tells many of us how educationally challenged you are.
And that goes for everyone who prefers to use the known gutter mouth mentality, rather than the civility you lack.

I wonder how this will go over with the Muslim community who have very strict beliefs on genders being in the same room naked and none are spouses...

Interesting... very bold for a liberal.
I'm saying that cultural identity is a complex social structure, that i don't believe that deer possess, unless you have evidence to the contrary.
Also even the most dextrous deer is going to struggle with applying lipstick.

Oh noes, i used bad language while joking with a friend, who used exactly the same language but for some reason hasn't received a haranguing.
As an aside, to quote the great Steven Fry "The sort of twee person who thinks swearing is in any way a sign of a lack of education or a lack of verbal interest is just a fucking lunatic."
Anyways, enough of a derail, next post i'm quoted in at least try and relate in some way to the topic pls.

More excuses. Won't change what you think you are hiding behind. Your need to repeat the words. Proves the lack of education, and I agree with your self descriptive Lunatic excuse.

You need to bear in mind that a lot of crap hits CA first then works it's way around the country. The socialists in CA make sure their ideology spreads that way. HIV hit SF first and went East very fast. HEre in the Bay area, a case happened where the transgender was a male. I can't imagine girls want such types in the same bathroom. If the crap starts elsewhere, I would love to hear about it.
