On the day of the Boston Marathon bombing, a Jersey City man was charged with having explosive devices in his home and the next day he was charged with having explosive devices aboard a train in Hoboken, officials said. None of the devices were "completed explosive devices," authorities said tonight..
Mykyta Panasenko, 27, of Newport Parkway, is charged with having "two destructive devices, specifically improvised explosive devices constructed from a cylinder containing Pyrodex (black powder)" on April 5, the criminal complaint says.
He is also charged with recklessly creating widespread risk of injury or damage to a building ... by constructing the explosive devices, according to the charges filed after the investigation led by the Jersey City Police Department and NJ Transit Police Department.
Panasenko is also charged with having two improvised explosive devices on April 7 aboard an NJ Transit Train leaving Hoboken and bound for Suffern, the complaint says.
