Bush gets emotional at Library opening

He was opening the library in his name, with all living Presidents in attention. Granted this is just the last minute, where you see his emotions come out. I miss George and his reality and openness.

Personally, I didn't like his politics all that much, especially during his 2nd term but he has always struck me as a good guy, one you could enjoy a beer with.

Personally, I didn't like his politics all that much, especially during his 2nd term but he has always struck me as a good guy, one you could enjoy a beer with.

I do believe he was a little too center leaning at times, and I disagree with a lot of his economical policies - but I always saw him as a 'real' person, in touch, not an elite snob kind of guy. Like you, I think you could enjoy a beer and some jokes with him. But I like to see an emotional guy like this, I truly believe what is in his heart. When I watched him with the families of 9/11 victims, hugging and crying with them, some of that you simply cannot fake.

How lucky he is to no longer be in office. I personally miss him as our president. Compared to who replaced him.

Granted. I didn't necessarily agree with much of what he did in office. Yet. Realistically, and Pragmatically...

though he has been blamed for just about everything WRONG with this nation in some way.

History will show. Hatred, and Stupidity by those who voted for Obama, and his Legacy, will show the highlights are the Destruction of a Nation. Obama cannot blame on Bush.

What is sort of wild is that when Bill Clinton was president, he tried hard to accept republican ideology and put it into law and practice.

Bush tried to take from Democrats and put into practice their ideology.

Bush had a very good trait. He was willing to be part of the fight to free the world.

Bush's economics were absolutely correct. Had he been able to, he would have repaired some flaws of government very soon into his presidency. Democrats kept blocking him and his efforts.

Some forget that unlike the current POTUS, Bush was well trained in business and economics.

He also had a vast reserve of government expertise to use as president. Not only his own, but his very able administration.

Not surprisingly, the liberal media used this event to take their usual cheap shots and showed what a classless bunch they are

I criticized Bush in the 2nd term, sometimes harshly. Never doubted though, that he wanted the best for the country. Same with Clinton. Can't say I feel the same about Obama, which is really a shame.

Many presidents have found, upon taking office, that they do not manage the congress They hoped and at times promised, things that the congress must accept or the president would never get it done. Obama promised to shut down Gitmo. As simple as that should be, he failed.

For some to be critical of President Bush, is it arrogant of them to presume they had a better idea than Bush had?

Bush was in charge. We never are in charge. We may believe our idea beat his, but we did not face the congress. We did not know all the facts. We did not get professional advice.

For us to be critical, as is our right, should we not have been critical and in command of all the facts?

I think we should have or our opinion is just that.

Note in Bush's short speech, he told us all what his priority was. Freedom for humans comes top of his list. I am not critical all that much since I too am devoted to freedom.

We were warned that if we did not use what tools we have, we can lose freedom. Even the second amendment must be defended as the other rights must be defended.

Anyway, I think the Bush talk, short and on point, was a very decent speech and he also took time to be kind to other presidents.

Not once did he say to us, I inherited this or that. He took charge.

Bush is a true leader.

I thank him for that.

Can you imagine the amount of security that must have been on hand? I'd be willing to bet that the security team was one of the largest ever!

And I loved GHWB's short and sweet speech. I miss him too. I'm afraid he doesn't look all that great. A great man. :salute:
