The attitude of the paranoid gun-haters seems to be, "Damn the common sense, full speed ahead!"
How long will it be before the first arrest of the schoolkid wearing a T-shirt with a picture of a pressure cooker on it?

8th grade student suspended, arrested over gun t-shirt

When 8th grade Jared Marcum got dressed for school this morning he says he had no idea that his pro-Second Amendment shirt would initiate what he calls a fight over his First Amendment rights.
"I never thought it would go this far because honestly I don't see a problem with this, there shouldn't be a problem with this," Jared said.
It was the image of a gun printed on Jared's t-shirt that sparked a dispute between a Logan Middle School teacher and Jared, that ended with Jared suspended, arrested and facing two charges, obstruction and disturbing the education process, on his otherwise spotless record.
Jared's father Allen Lardieri says he's angry he had to rush from work to pick his son up from jail over something he says was blown way out of proportion.
"I don't' see how anybody would have an issue with a hunting rifle and NRA put on a t-shirt, especially when policy doesn't forbid it," Lardieri said.
The Logan County School District's dress code policy prohibits clothing that displays profanity, violence, discriminatory messages and more but nowhere in the document does it say anything about gun images.
"He did not violate any school policy," Lardieri reiterates. "He did not become aggressive."

You would think they would know better in West Virginia which is not exactly a left wing enclave.
Actually, this makes a case against local control of police. Logan, WV is a don't-blink-or-you-will-miss-it town of less than 2,000 people.
Here is an example of another place like this that was disbanded:

He wasn't arrested for the t-shirt. He was arrested for this ^^^^
This is the type of law that has to be watched out for. Even in big liberal ole New York City we don't have laws like this.
Teachers no longer want to be responsible for maintaining order in their classrooms. So they and their union leaders go to local and state legislatures and get crap laws like this passed. This boots responsibility for maintaining order in the classroom over to the police. Then when the police are compelled to enforce stupid laws like this (that the teachers wanted), the teachers get to do their old liberal "We Hate Cops" dance with their students. Just like the 1960s all over again.

School is a product of big government and big government pushes gun confiscation. Of course they will deny the kid the right to wear a t-shirt with a pic of a gun on it while their teachers teach the leftist big government agenda. An agenda that is and always has been completely anti-american. That seeks the destruction of our Constitution and most of our rights as well. -Tyr

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/06/17/west-virginia-teen-arrested-for-nra-shirt-officially-charged/?test=latestnews
A West Virginia eighth-grader who was suspended from school for refusing to change his National Rifle Association T-shirt faces up to one year in jail and a $500 fine after being formally charged with obstructing an officer.
Jared Marcum, 14, appeared before a judge Monday and was hit with formal charges that carry a maximum $500 fine and up to a year in jail. The Logan County Police Department initially claimed that Marcum was arrested April 18 for disturbing the education process and obstructing an officer. His father said that officers even went as far as threatening to charge Jared with making terror threats.
"In my view of the facts, Jared didn't do anything wrong," Ben White, Jared's attorney told WTRF. "I think officer Adkins could have done something differently."
Arresting officer James Adkins claimed that Marcum’s refusal to talk obstructed his ability to do his job, while White argued that Adkins never made reference to any violent acts or threats in his petition.
He exercises his 1st amendment rights, and gets in trouble. He 'doesn't' exercise his 1st amendment rights, and gets in 'more' trouble.
This is ridiculous.

In our school system, you are not allowed to wear any shirt that has pictures, illustrations or any type of printing not associated with the school. Most schools are allowed to determined what kind of clothing is not deemed acceptable.
The only "indoctrination" is in Christian schools, where everyone has to think the same thing and act the same way. Sort of like Republicans. :p

Tyr. I am now fairly certain, and fully convinced. Gabby IS NOT who he/she was.
Truth is. Gabby is a male NOW. Having survived the gender operation, where they not only removed certain parts. But used a SHOP VAC to empty the contents of what was formerly a GABBY brain. Making it Contaminated Waste for the sewer system.

Of course schools can determine what's acceptable or not, it must be equally applied though. If someone wears a shirt with "equality" printed on it, thats verboten too, right?
So far as Christian schools, they're private and not held to the same standards of equal treatment as are public schools. And saying pubkic schools dont indoctrinate, You're dead wrong; public institutions normalize the populace. You even said so in another thread regarding that teacher being released; you said in "normal schools" or some such, as in conforming to a standard. Apparently, supporting constitutional rights is no longer a standard in West Virginia schools.
By the standard you set forth above, is the second amendment and the us constitution, not associated with public schools? Is there a picture of Barack Obama in your school-- Is that "associated with the school"? Are you paid for Presidents' Day, veterans days? Memorial Day?
Have you stopped saying the pledge of allegiance too? All this could be construed as an indoctrination. But somehow the towns people's cries for "safe schools" success at torching our constitutionally enumerated liberties mustn't be interfered with.

I agree schools have every right to enforce their dress code, but it doesn't appear that they were doing that.
The Logan County School District's dress code policy prohibits clothing that displays profanity, violence, discriminatory messages and more but nowhere in the document does it say anything about gun images.

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/06/28/charge-dropped-against-student-who-refused-to-remove-nra-shirt/
The West Virginia eighth-grader arrested after refusing a teacher's demand he remove a National Rifle Association T-shirt he wore to school won't face criminal charges after all.
Jared Marcum, 14, was charged with obstruction following the April 18 incident after police who were called to Logan Middle School school said he refused to stop talking. The case generated national headlines, as Marcum's family and attorney, Ben White, claimed the demand that he remove the NRA shirt violated his right to freedom of speech. On Thursday, Logan County Circuit Judge Eric O'Briant signed an order dismissing the charge.
After Marcum was arrested, students throughout Logan County wore similar NRA shirts in a show of solidarity. And on Monday, the boy was summoned back to court as prosecutors sought to have a gag order imposed on him and his family. They claimed Jared and his father talking to the press about the case was not in the boy's interest, a rationale his own attorney rejected.
"We were here because the prosecution filed a motion for a gag order," White said on Monday. "My opinion is because, seemingly, they want to take it out of the court of public opinion."
I'd like them to send a message about trampling 1st amendment rights and sue the living shit out of the school and the police.
