Like Agenda 21, not quite as tightly outlined but it has been sort of a theme that the foundations, the feds in association with the the NEA types have been working on for decades.

February 10, 1973---In the SATURDAY REVIEW OF EDUCATION, NEA president Catherine Barrett pronounces: Quote:

<tbody>
"Dramatic changes in the way we will raise our children in the year 2000 are indicated, particularly in terms of schooling.... We will need to recognize that the so-called 'basic skills,' which currently represent yearly the total effort in elementary schools, will be taught in one-quarter of the present school day.... When this happens--and it's near--the teacher can rise to his true calling. More than a dispenser of information, the teacher will be a conveyor of values, a philosopher.... We will be agents of change."

</tbody>

Catherine Barrett 1972
Quote:

<tbody>
"Those two complementary philosophies fueled the vision of NEA leaders who sought a utopian world, freed from Biblical constraints and ruled by humanist politicians and taught by progressive educators. Parental rights and religious freedom would be swallowed up by the surpassing rights and rules of the greater community — the controlled collective." (commenting on this quote by Blumenfeld "Those who rose highest in the public schools establishment and the NEA were those most strongly committed to secularism and statism.")

</tbody>

Quote:

<tbody>
Catherine Barrett, then president of the National Education Association (1976), gave a speech in which she said,
• "First, we will help all of our people understand that school is a concept and not a place. We will not confuse “schooling” with education. The school will be the community, the community the school."

The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), the curriculum arm of the NEA, published To Nurture Humaneness: Commitment for the ’70′s. The visionary statements of its authors are coming true in our times:
• "Vital questions of values, beliefs, feelings, emotions and human interrelationships in all forms must be integral parts of the curriculum."
• "The school will need to be supplemented by neighborhood family centers which provide infant care and developmental activity…. Education may well begin at birth in cooperative family centers." (Francis Chase, Professor Emeritus of the University of Chicago)
• "Many daily decisions and value judgments now made by the individual will soon be made for him… How to plan for one’s children’s education will be partially taken out of his hands. (John Loughary, Professor of Education at the University of Oregon."

</tbody>

1973 Chester M. Pierce, M.D., Professor of Education and Psychiatry at Harvard, had this to say:
Quote:

<tbody>
• "Every child in America entering school at the age of five is mentally ill because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our Founding Fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It’s up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well – by creating the international child of the future."

That agenda was formulated in 1960's. Amazing how great a change 50+ years can bring if the education system pushes it. Emphasis on that socialist change took away from emphasis on truly educating the kids. Now our public education system does a lousy job because it pushes an agenda targeted at socialist indoctrination instead of true education. I fought against that teaching my daughter's entire school years(including thousands of dumbass erroneous things told my daughter by her teachers). Had to be totally dedicated to reteaching her. She turned out great and is a not only a very fine person with great character but also a good citizen too.-Tyr

My oldest is having his teacher insist that zero times infinity equals zero. She has managed to reach a class consensus that zero times infinity equals zero. Of course in most of the corporate culture, the consensus would make it fact. It really annoys him.

I hope you are invested in reteaching your son because the liberal teachers are heavily invested in indoctrinating him. The truth is the truth whether it has a consensus acknowledging it or not. Teachers would do well to teach that! A lie agreed upon by all is no less a lie.. The liberals teach that there are a few billion shades of gray to chose from on making a judgement about anything. That eliminates any absolutism of right or wrong. Which leads to what ever makes you feel good as the right answer. Pure Poppycock! -Tyr

Not sure from the way you wrote this...is your oldest arguing that zero times infinity is or isn't equal to zero? Or is his problem with the teacher to do with allowing a math problem to be judged correct or incorrect via a concensus?

It's both. I helped him write a proof using limits and he took it to school. f(x)=1/x goes to infinity as x goes to zero. If you consider g(x) = 0*infinity, then g(x) = 0*1/0. The zeroes cancel, so g(x)=1. You can further prove that zero times infinity can be any constant and is therefore undefined. He is in grade 6.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but a woman's last name changing might be somewhat traditional, but would hardly be looked at as "abuse" if she didn't do so. My wife is my EQUAL and I do my best to treat her as such.

Zero time any NUMBER is zero. Infinity is not a number. There are multiple ways to prove zero times infinity is undefined.

I'm glad to hear that. I have met myriad out-of-state IT contractors that get out-of-state gigs so they can escape their wife while not putting their kids through a divorce. The epitome of bad luck is when their out-of-state gig involves a shrill boss reminiscent of their shrill wife. Of course some of that can be mitigated in the interview process. My personal cure for a shrill boss is to tie her down with Americans with Disability Act accommodation requests like a Lilliputian.

This is known as an absolute.
It does not matter how many times you multiply nothing you'll still have nothing. 0 x 0 = 0..
You can add nothings too, you still get nothing because nothing + nothing = nothing (0 +0 = 0 ) , which equals zero.

Having or not having consensus in the matter is not relevant. The zero is absolute.

Remember this , 1. either everything came from nothing or 2. else everything was already here.
Either possibility baffles the human mind as we only think we can understand it.

you can not prove 0 times infinity is undefined because its not undefined. The answer is always zero.
0 x 1 million= 0, 0 x 1 billion= 0
0 x 1 trillion= 0.
0 X ANYTHING IS ZERO.

Im with tailfins. infinity isn't a number. Its like asking what's zero times oranges. its not number. , neither is infinity.
A complex number is a number whose only real componant is zero; so zero is the real componant of a complex number. Though zero is used as placeholder in the real number series, amd conceptually so is infinity, the consideration of both is more complex than real. For example, 0x5=0. but what does 5/0 = ? -- its nothing--not zero-- nothing! That when complex numbers come into play. With complex numbers, Any non-zero complex number/infinity=0 or an non-zero complex number/0= infinity. So 0 and infinity are more like reciprocals. In real numbers, anything times its reciprocal is 1. So I suppose, zero times infinity should be also...except its not a number...so its nothing. Wow. All that proof to arrive at nothing. :laugh:

I suspect we would see another example of liberal double standards. One set of rules for Me Harris - Perry and another set of rules for the rest of us
