What a way to land. As a pilot, I can't imagine any of this happening to one of my passengers.

Just how experimental was this aircraft that it didn't have seatbelts?
Side note: my second cousin died in an experimental aircraft, nose dive straight into the ground during a maneuver. Saw it happen. Ball of flames...and the sound, ugh-- Horrific! To die doing something that you love though, we should all be so lucky. Watching it happen; not so much.

We call the laws FARS that govern aircraft. They must be equpped with set belts. I keep my belt on at all times as PIC. As a student pilot, the instructor ordered that we both keep seat belts on at all times. I expect that the FAA will call this instructor in and maybe take his license. The aircraft is experimental but it has the same rules the rest have. I am not familar with that particular aircraft other than what I posted. A metal aircraft that is assembled by the buyer.

Next thing we will hear is the instructor will be sued by the family of the deceased.

The day the FAA passed me to be a pilot, the FAA inspector attempted to get me to allow him to not put the seat belt on. I kept telling him to put it on and at last he did.

Had I allowed him to not buckle up, he would have failed me then and there.

Was it a Harmon Rocket? That's what my relative was flying.

The day I passed the test, I was flying the PA-28-161

AKA Piper Aircraft, mod 28 and 161 horsepower. Called the Piper Warrior, a 4 place aircraft with the modern wings and a good airplane to fly.

I was also qualified on the Tomahawk, a 2 place slow airplane and the Piper Archer, faster than the Warrior due to having 20 more horsepower. As a licensed Pilot,I also flew the Mooney 201, faster than the rest and a claimed 20 mpg.
