I did not know if I should laugh or cry when I heard some reporter on the BBC, while speaking of the USA flying the stealth bomber to South Korea refer to Missouri as Misery.
Yup, she said the Stealth bombers took off from Misery. I was trying to figure out the state she spoke of but being smart as I am (LMAO) I decided she spoke of Missouri.
I wonder of this will show up on youtube?
Bill Richards (D) of considerable experience as a Governor, as an Ambassador and in service to the US Federal government did his best to try to explain what he thinks about the way N. Korea is acting. He blames the Generals in N. Korea.

What do you think about the vaunted BBC saying Misery? I have been to that state but had no idea it is called Misery.
I got the idea that Richardson did blame North Korea. I can't recall him bashing Obama for flyng those stealth bombers to South Korea.
This is my impression of Bill Richardson. A lot more honest than Obama or Clinton of course.
The thing about him vs Obama, at least Richardson did understand Government and undertood how to Govern.
Richardson ran in 2008 and to their eternal shame. Democrats turned him down and took the Messiah that school kids were ordered to sing songs in praise of.

The nice thing about the stealth is it presents virtually no profile for that backwards bunch in North Korea to hit.
Obama is still as inept as he was the day he first became a Senator in Illinois.
Some politicians get smarter. Not so with Obama.

Tyr. Our Stealth bombers can deliver 80,000 lbs of destruction on multiple targets with each aircraft.
If Saddam's air search radar's were unable to detect them BEFORE lighting up the sky with Triple-A.
Does anyone think N. Korea has the capability to hit our Stealth aircraft?
It may have been looked upon as adding gas to the fire. But South Korea is STILL an ally of ours.
Not to mention, almost 40 thousand Americans on the ground at the 38th parallel since 1953.

The BBC reports as it does because it IS the BBC. Their anti-American bias is well established.
I lost count of the number of times I saw derisive expressiveness on our news broadcasts whenever GW Bush was being reported or commented on. Many's the time I've seen 'neutral' news broadcasters smirk when discussing Bush. I also recall a BBC Radio 4 broadcast, one lasting half an hour and reviewing US troop conduct in Iraq, one painting them as conquerors who had no respect whatever for those they'd 'conquered' and showed it in various ways.
Obama usually gets reverential reports, however (with occasional exceptions .. the BP oil disaster comes to mind).

In a debate on whether the BBC should interview Osama Bin Laden if he approached them, it was decided the Al Qaeda leader would be given a platform to explain his views.
And the BBC's 'diversity tsar', Mary Fitzpatrick, said women newsreaders should be able to wear whatever they wanted while on TV, including veils.
Ms Fitzpatrick spoke out after criticism was raised at the summit of TV newsreader Fiona Bruce, who recently wore on air a necklace with a cross.
The full account of the meeting shows how senior BBC figures queued up to lambast their employer.
Political pundit Andrew Marr said: 'The BBC is not impartial or neutral. It's a publicly funded, urban organisation with an abnormally large number of young people, ethnic minorities and gay people. It has a liberal bias not so much a party-political bias. It is better expressed as a cultural liberal bias.'
Washington correspondent Justin Webb said that the BBC is so biased against America that deputy director general Mark Byford had secretly agreed to help him to 'correct', it in his reports. Webb added that the BBC treated America with scorn and derision and gave it 'no moral weight'.
Former BBC business editor Jeff Randall said he complained to a 'very senior news executive', about the BBC's pro-multicultural stance but was given the reply: 'The BBC is not neutral in multiculturalism: it believes in it and it promotes it.'

Do you also get the PBS program from Washington DC?
I swear, what you say about the BBC sounds like you are talking about our public broadcast service.
Supposedly their balance for Mark Shields an apparent socialist is this jerk David Brooks. I don't like the man, I endure him. I am sick of PBS showing one side of most arguments.

What was their take on the oil disaster?
Here's one report. It lacks the usual respectful rhetoric when reporting on Obama.
It also includes pie charts asking 'Do you approve or disapprove of Obama's response to the oil spill ?'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10262385
US President Barack Obama has strongly criticised BP's chief executive Tony Hayward over the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
In an interview with NBC, Mr Obama was asked about comments Mr Hayward made in the wake of the disaster, such as "I want my life back" and the Gulf is "a big ocean".
Mr Obama said: "He wouldn't be working for me after any of those statements."
He said he had visited the Louisiana coast "so I know whose ass to kick".
The interview on NBC's Today show is to be broadcast later on Tuesday.
Mr Obama used the interview to defend his role in dealing with the crisis. Polls suggest that many Americans think he has handled the disaster poorly.
By the way, one prejudicial reference Obama repeatedly made during his various comments was to refer to BP as 'British Petroleum'. YES, it has British origins. YES, it still has many British people working for it. However, these days, it's a multinational headed by an American. Indeed .. the BBC went to some lengths to defer to Obama (lapsing back, once more, to pro-Obama mode) when Obama strove to correct his previous gaffes on that ...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10300082
Barack Obama has told Prime Minister David Cameron that criticism of BP over the Gulf of Mexico oil spill has "nothing to do with national identity".
In a 30-minute phone call, the US president said he recognised BP was a multinational company and he had no interest in undermining its value.
Mr Obama's blunt criticism of BP over the spill has prompted accusations of "anti-British" language.
Mr Cameron will visit the US as prime minister for the first time on 20 July.
During the telephone conversation on Saturday, Mr Cameron expressed his sadness at the environmental damage from the oil leak that began on 20 April.
A Downing Street statement said the leaders had "agreed that BP should continue - as they have pledged - to work intensively to ensure that all sensible and reasonable steps are taken as rapidly as practicable to deal with the consequences of this catastrophe".
It added: "The prime minister stressed the economic importance of BP to the UK, US and other countries. The president made clear that he had no interest in undermining BP's value.
"The president and prime minister reaffirmed their confidence in the unique strength of the US-UK relationship."
A statement from the White House said: "The president and the prime minister discussed the impact of the tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, reiterating that BP must do all it can to respond effectively to the situation."
President Obama's criticisms of BP - and in particular its chief executive Tony Hayward - have been consistently blunt.
And some UK businessmen have accused the president's team of using "anti-British" language when discussing the spill.

I think Benny Hill worked for the BBC for a time, but he was primarily on ITV, the BBC's main Terrestrial TV competitor.
Atkinson ... you've reminded me of the BlackAdder series .. yep, that was from the BBC. Also very good.
There have been various other comedy series that may or may not have made it to America. 'Vicar of Dibley' .. I think did. But how about 'Steptoe & Son', or 'Only Fools and Horses' ? Or 'Marriage Lines' ? 'Fawlty Towers' ?
There was one which you made your own version of .. 'All in the Family', I think (Archie Bunker). It was an idea copied from our 'Til Death Us Do Part', based on a Cockney English family with a loud-mouthed bigot at the head of it, called Alf Garnett (Warren Mitchell).
We don't get PBS here - though I've heard it's a rough equivalent to the BBC. We do get Fox News ... for those fortunate enough to be able to watch Sky Satellite TV and pay the relevant package fee to receive it. Fox only appears on our satellite TV system .. I know you think of it as a cable channel, but over here, only the Sky system broadcasts it.
Al Jazeera, by contrast, is far more widely available, even on Freeview ..

When Benny Hill was on, I enjoyed his humor so much. I have not seen anybody else like him.
I have heard of Fawlty Towers. I normally am not watching a channel that features BBC. We have PBS and on that channel, BBC news comes on with Katty as the host.
I get the non cable FOX news though for another something like forty dollars per month I could get FOX cable. I have a package by Comcast and they don't seem to like to give me many channels. Last September they came here and installed some box to make the system digital and for about 2 weeks, I had a lot more channels. Day by day they kept removing channels. I called to complain but it did no good so I lost FOX, ESPN and many others. Maybe I got them and Comcast hoped I would sign up.
When we had Archie Bunker (All in the Family), I did not like his program.
I do get RT (Russian Times) and DWTV (from Berlin) and pick up a lot that is not available on American TV.
I have picked up some Al Jazeera but on the internet and not on TV.
I used to get out of Canada a program called Red /Green and found it very funny. You can see some of that on the internet or maybe youtube.

Katty Kaye ? Yes, she appears occasionally over here as well - BBC World principally, though.
Fawlty Towers - only a handful of episodes were ever made, but were classics of their time. All about a terribly-run hotel in Torquay, Devon (made decades ago). Links to one of the episodes ..

Maybe some of them were there temporarily, 'on approval', waiting for additional subscription payments .. put on there to see if they could tempt you to pay for them ? Well, anyway, whatever the reason for their removal was ....

I didn't think much of it either. Til Death Us Do Part was a lot better, in my view.

Both RT and Al Jazeera are transmitted on our Freeview channels (though I rarely watch their stuff). DWTV (Deutsche Welle) gets an airing on Sky. And of course, for those bothering to invest in such a setup, over here, the satellite channels from 'mainland Europe' transmit signals we can pick up from separate digital satellite dishes on their Free to Air channels ('Hotbird', I think). DWTV is included in the lineup.

I'm always suspect, when there's an abrupt about face on such things, that there are monetary interests at stake. With bp's $150B in market cap, pretty much every serious investor had some skin the game. So a world leader gaffeing while almost a third of that disappears cannot escape scrutiny.

Have now watched the first episode of the new Doctor Who series. A very good one. The Doctor backtracks a telephone call he gets from Clara .. when he's in the 13th century .. and goes to the house she's living in. Most of the rest of the episode is about the Great Intelligence absorbing peoples' souls through the Internet, via WiFi .. helped by a Company operating out of the Shard, in central London.
I daresay some of you will be catching up on this episode in a few hours from now. Enjoy !
... By the way, have learned that there's a plan to bring back David Tennent in a 50th anniversary episode, in November this year.
