I believe our society has become a harsh, graceless, vicious place specifically because women have eschewed nurturing. Nurturing and being a cutthroat corporate warrior just don't go together. One must be one or the other. I am lucky to have a wife that actively agrees with that point. My recent interaction with the Amish has proven to be a welcome respite from the harsh "English" (speaking) society. Some DP members have suggested taking a look at the Mennonites. There are also other "plain" churches. The closest to my beliefs "on paper" are the Old German Baptist Brethren http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_German_Baptist_Brethren . It truly is amazing how these groups have kept their culture feminism-free. Of course, I want to make sure my family doesn't feel boxed in at church.

Next time someone tries to push your car down the lane, blare their horn or flip you the bird think of the coarse society you and your kind have brought about. Feminism has brought the end of common courtesy and decency.
Define exactly what a 'feminism free' culture would look like pls.

Well ... I'm all in favour of women being EXACTLY what they want to be. Stereotyping them, or even hinting at such a thing, strikes me as an offensive approach.
I should remind you all that I come from that nation which produced Margaret Thatcher !! In the face of this, how could I EVER argue for any role for a woman in which she didn't feel liberated enough to do precisely what she wanted, to follow and fight for whatever dreams she wanted to pursue ??
The UK was lucky to have her as its Leader. Husband Denis was lucky to have her as his wife. And everything else we all know about her stellar achievements speaks for itself.
So let women determine their own roles, follow their own dreams, and let us ALL be much the better for it !!!

I agree with that when it's an individual choice. Not so much when it is a "movement" goes too radical about forcing such choices and encouraging a hatred for men.
You are indeed correct about Thatcher, a fine woman that clearly provided a famous example of how a woman can be just as great as a man. Yet even you must admit her intelligence, character, leadership abilities and courage are not the norm in man or woman! Thank God Britain had here for it profited ever so greatly from having that blessing.
The freedom to pursue one's gifts should always be there for male or female. For that to exist the freedom must exist and be enforced by law within that society and nation.
Brings back memories of how you won our little Churchill/Thatcher debate my friend.-:salute:
By forcing me to intensively examine Thatcher's life you won by my finding the truth of her character and abilities...A very hard lesson for me but one I place very high value on...thanks again..----Tyr

I'll happily agree that I won the debate (!) .. though I think of it as a fairly narrow victory. You know that I favour Mrs Thatcher, of course ... but I don't LACK a capacity to value Churchill, either. Churchill was a very great man, and for his era, he was exactly what Britain, and indeed the Free World, needed.

So if a woman (who has little aptitude for arrays, collections, object oriented theory) EXACTLY wants to be a software engineer or wants to manage software engineers we should sledgehammer males into solution by consensus as opposed to just seeing if the #$%$ thing works? Should we just live with bug-laden and feature poor software just to make American women managers feel good?

You haven't had to endure environments that value winning popularity contests over correct answers. The cheese gets grimy when pissy feminists sledgehammer right-brained female methods on technical males. There are of course exceptions like Temple Grandin.

Where, in my post, did I say that there must be an assumption of guaranteed success in every profession a woman aspires to be a part of ?
Some women aren't cut out to be road-diggers. Some men aren't cut out to be brain surgeons. Is there one person in this world guaranteed to be good at EVERYTHING he or she attempts to do ?
You are the one fighting to stereotype according to gender. My point is that I am doing no such thing, nor do I think it right to ever try to.

I have NEVER in my entire life had a good American female boss. It had nothing to do with a strong woman either. I had a Russian tough-as-nails female boss and did quite well. I can think of three American females I have ever had a positive rapport with. One of those is a sister that recently quit trying to be productive who I had to rescue from being homeless and have to set boundaries with to avoid becoming 100% dependent.

Neither did I. All my good female bosses were British.
I can think of one bad one, but the rest were good. In fact, the majority of 'bad' ones were males.
Of course, we in the UK had a really splendid female boss. MARGARET THATCHER ... but of course. The Unions wouldn't have thought so, nor would our harder-bitten Lefties. But that's their problem.
Needless to say, she wiped the floor with those Lefties.
By the way, you'll have to excuse my 'chipper' mood today. The BBC Parliament Channel has just spent much of today screening its 1983 election coverage recordings. That was the year after the Falklands victory, and when her Union curbs were really kicking in. Mrs Thatcher won herself a landslide victory that year .. almost double the number of Parliamentary seats that the opposition Labour Party won, and easily the biggest landslide seen in British politics for at least 30 years ...

I've only ever had one female boss. She was American and did a fine job. We got along splendidly because when she came to the company and saw my record she immediately began a hands-off approach in regards to me. Before she left the company 6 years later she thanked me and then told me how much easier I had made her job by my not ever needing to be disciplined as had several others there had been ,of which 4 were fired by her and rightfully so. She was a no nonsense lady and I liked her immensely for that. Still when raises came around she did not cut me any great favors. She also did not shaft me either. Lady was as fair a boss as I ever had..I heard a few years later she had been hired by some big company in Spain ,never heard a thing about her after that. She was not married and was a very pretty lady that was very intelligent. Had I not been happily married young man at that I time I believe I would have made a serious play for her!--Tyr
