Title is correct. Absolutely the best post I've encountered all year. Money well spent.

It's a staged ad for a bank. Wonderful advertising though and that music always gives me goosebumps.

The musicians and the location may have been staged, but one cannot 'fake' the reactions of infants and toddlers, not in a mob like that.

I'm with you that the music just makes the soul soar, which is probably why it's called, "An Ode to Joy!" or something like that.

What never ceases to tick me off are school cuts to the arts. While some kids are lost without them, all are poorer without them.

I had to find more out about the 'bank' and this:

...Which is why I love the video above: a flash mob that is beautiful and high-minded and entirely, entirely earnest. The performance -- an iterative take on Beethoven's "Ode to Joy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wod-MudLNPA)," convened in Sabadell, Spain -- takes the original purpose of the flash mob and reverses it: Instead of assembly > content, here's it's the content that matters much more than the congregation. The gathering's subject has a predicate, which is to create -- and to share -- art.

The years between 2003 and our current moment have seen the evolution of the flash mob: from cheeky, satiric events to gatherings that are deeply rehearsed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR-wnA1xiaY&feature=related) and occasionally -- inevitably -- commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPH9eHXjBL0&feature=related). (Even the Sabadell video is commercial: Its performance was convened to mark the 130th anniversary of its Banco Sabadell (http://biggeekdad.com/2012/06/som-sabadell-flash-mob-orchestra/).) But this mob, and this particular "Ode to Joy," are something else: a crowd that comes together not primarily to make a point, but simply to make music. Together.

I agree with this blogger regarding 'flash mobs' whether sponsored or not:

I'll admit it: I’m a sucker for cultural flashmob events. I know they’re contrived – how else do you get the great footage? – but I still love the way they startle a random group of people and bring them together as a group, a body, joined partly, I’m sure, by curiosity but also, I think, be the sheer beauty of the event. In this case that event is a 100 member orchestra playing Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.” It was sponsored by Banco Sabadell, Spain’s fifth largest bank, this past May to sponsor the 130th anniversary of its founding.

...

He goes onto post two other great flash mob videos. There are quite a few, but I agree that these are also amongst the best, for the same reason as the one above:

Okay, not the 'best,' but the sentiments were good for a man who's been sick:

Sadly I do not have video of the best coin I ever spent which was $20 on a lap dance for my husband to which the stripper pulled his belt off and then proceeded to bend him over the chair and spank him with it.

The videos above are definitely very worth watching though!
