Who knows how to do a tracert from their computer to this site, and also knows how to copy/past the results? I'm seeing slowness, and poor numbers at the last hop for the last hours.

1 - Go to START and then RUN and type in "CMD" without the quotes
2 - This will open the command prompt, black screen
3 - At this prompt, type in "tracert www.debatepolicy.com
4 - This will ping every hop on your route to the website and give back results similar to what I am posting below

How to copy and paste here

5 - Right click anywhere on the top bar, choose EDIT and then MARK
6 - Now you can right-click and highlight all the text on the screen - and leave it highlighted
7 - Now go to the top bar again, right click - EDIT and then this time choose COPY

Now you can past here as such: (The asterisks on the last 3 being where I think the issue is...)

Those traces aren't showing packet loss. Mine is, but not right now either, it comes and goes.

Is anyone experiencing severe slowness like I am? In other words, much different than normal?

Took me about 1 minute to submit the above post, once I hit the submit button to where it refreshed and my post was live. I then wrote a PM to someone, and when hitting submit it also took a minute or so to finish.

Just after my above post, the site speeds seem to have returned to normal for me, a dramatic improvement. It's back to normal, where pretty much anything I click on takes 1-2 seconds to load at best.

Robert A Whit

After the trace, it seemed to me to suddenly be slower. At times it seems to refresh fairly fast but other times slower. i also notice at times that my letters show up slower than i am typing.

In this piece, part of it typed slower and now it seems to be matching typing speeds to what shows up.

Now I will hit submit and see if it posts fast or slower than normal.

I counted 1000 &1, 1000 &2 and suddenly it showed up.

The edit showed up instantly.

I would say that the bold portion is about where your bottleneck is today, which appears to be the last router before you hit the datacenter. Notice how the ping times even reduce dramatically after you reach the datacenter.

Jim. Not having any problems here. But you should be aware of sunspot activity increasing.

Though not many people take it seriously. I can assure everyone who uses a cell phone, the Internet, or high tech accessories these days. That sunspot activity Really Does play a huge part in the visual, and invisible spectrum of electronics, magnetism, and even satellite communications worldwide.
Next time you experience a long delay, or blackout. Remember. The SUN..not George W. Bush is responsible, and to blame.

Next time you experience a long delay, or blackout. Remember. The SUN..not George W. Bush is responsible, and to blame.

That's a myth - unless you're using a satellite connection, and then it would be minimal and rather rare.

I will admit to perpetuating this for a chuckle with an unsuspecting person, and I even had a smartass tech tell me it was solar activity when I called in to my ISP to complain about my internet speed. I told him I just installed & integrated his company's new cell phone network to shut him up, then told him, "I want you to look at my port and tell me what I'm set at." I heard some fast keyboard activity in the background, my modem reset, and BAM! Right back to 22 meg.

Turns out that my 'Solar Activity' was actually the usual ISP choking to save a buck... I think they all do it, and I keep mine on their toes with SpeedTest.net checkups. I want what I pay for.

The vast majority of internet traffic is carried through Fiber and Copper... it's cheaper, faster and more reliable than bouncing off satellites. Fiber is immune, of course, and the copper legs are very short.

Whenever you hear someone at your ISP explain slow internet speed with 'Solar Activity', it's a safe bet to tell them to shut the hell up, get off their ass and fix the problem.

I would say that the bold portion is about where your bottleneck is today, which appears to be the last router before you hit the datacenter. Notice how the ping times even reduce dramatically after you reach the datacenter.

Good to seeya, Rick! :salute:

Yep, it was definitely in the Dallas area... probably some maintenance going on down there at the CO.

I had some timeouts before reaching that hop, so there was something else going on in Anchorage and in Seattle, too.

Thanks, glad to be back!

Whatever you say. Guess all my time working satellite communications in the navy was invalid.

I did say it can affect Satellite communications to an extent.

But it's not going to affect any internet traffic on the grid and it's a running joke in the trade.

Of course not, the man who invented the internet, put in a back door to slow things down if he wanted to, it's called "global warming". :coffee:

I still chuckle about Al Gore "taking the initiative to create the internet".

Good times, Algore, good times.

I hope he doesn't sell the Interwebs to Al Jazeera. Then we'll be stuck with porn like this :
