Well they said that he will probably start hiring campaign staff by friday and make a formal announcement 4th of July weekend, which is a good move, free publicity on a major holiday.

Dear right-wing friends......
One of the big lessons I learned from the Bush administration is that just because someone sounds like he knows what he is doing, it doesn't necessarily mean he actually does know what he's doing. Cheney always impressed me that he was a man who knew what he was doing and that he was in charge. He had that gruff, no-nonsense air of command about him.
Then I found out that Cheney is a bloody fool who doesn't have a clue about what is in America's best interests.
I will grant you that Fred Thompson sounds like he knows what he's doing, but that doesn't mean a damn thing.

I personally will take a no nonsense straight talker over that twisted pair any day....

Nukeman: Thompson has a total of 8 years experience in the Senate. I know Hillary has more Senate experience than that, and I think Obama does, too. Plus, all that time Hillary spent with Bill in the governor's mansion and the White House was valuable experience.
Fred Thompson is a good actor and ex-Senator. He's also starting to look old after losing his hair.
Doesn't matter to me, but it does to a lot of voters.

P.S. You say Thompson is "a straight talker." Could that be because he says what you want to hear?

I dont think Hillary or Obama have been in it that long.....

When's the last time we elected a bald president?
That's right, Eisenhower.
When was the last time before that?

Not surprising from the party of John Edwards, though.

Well, think of it this way. If Fred Thompson is elected president, we'd save $400 PER HAIRCUT over John Edwards.
And to think the Left used to beef about those $200 toilet seats back in the Reagan days!

I want to know more about Thompson, though what I've read about his time in the Senate, I like. I'm uncomfortable with Rudy, though I like him on war, that's about all I agree with him on.
Newt? If he were to enter? I 'know' him, on policy ok, he's great with ideas. But he's a moral rock as in 'rocks for brains'.

Those are your qualifications for your candidate? Somebody who can talk straight and smooth?
Hell, Bill Clinton could do that. Nobody could talk as straight and smooth as the Big Dog.
You guys set the bar pretty low for your candidates. I remember in 2000, when you selected that eminent rocket scientist, George W. Bush, as your candidate, your requirements were:
[Required] Can he show up on time to get his orders for the day from President Cheney?
[Optional, but desirable] Can he walk and chew gum at the same time?
