I am just an average person who goes to work every day and pays taxes etc. How is it that that we as Americans have a process to elect a leader that doesn't seem to really lead and who's only interest seems to be taking away our rights and freedoms. We as a society are heading down a path in which we no longer can depend on ourselves to take care of our families due to rising costs everywhere from the grocery store to the gas pumps. All the while government continues to grow out of control and and making its citizens more and more dependent upon the government. If you ask people if they are better off now than they were 4 years ago, i would bet that most people would say no they are not! Yet we keep sending these same people back to Washington over and over again whose only goal seems to be their own self advancement and well-being at the cost of the very people who sent them there to represent them. There seems to be more corruption and more misinformation put out there, and people don't really know what to believe any more. The media tells us about all the violence occurring daily and how we need more gun control. what we need is better mental health care, and not some doctor that says "here, take this pill. it will make you better" More people need to stand up and demand change that benefits EVERYONE not just the elite few. Less government and more American know-how. Question what you hear in the media and don't just blindly believe it. People need to think for themselves and stop relying on government hand outs. We have become a society of wanting something for nothing and not willing to work for whatever you want. I hope people stand up and take notice of what is going on around them.

azsharkman: With a few exceptions here on this forum. You are talking to the CHOIR across the board.
Most all of us have been saying nearly the very same things for many years.
Welcome to the Forum.

This is what you get when you elect a Left-winger to power.
Don't imagine that leadership is absent .. as such. I think the point is that a creeping Socialist agenda is being followed, and that, if you make any attempt to dig beneath the day-to-day surface, the progress made towards that agenda will be clear enough.
Those wanting big Government, with attitudes shaped, with a dependency culture encouraged, and with America's influence as a leading nation neutralised ... they have their man, and their Party, in power.
Those valuing the individual and freedom, those who want greatness for their country, for it to have a moral backbone and not to yield to forces and influences designed to sap all that into oblivion ... then Conservatism, and a VERY strong dose of it, is the ONLY answer.

One long, run-on block of text - not inviting to read. Please put some AIR in it?
Thanks.

He abolished public mental institutions in California as governor and then the nation as president. Anyone who can not think for themselves is in trouble. The NCLB has created a generation of people who can't think for themselves. Another tip of the hat to republican Bush for the failure in America.

Thanks to you April15. We have a prime example of that mental health issue you blame on others, as a means of trying to remain under the radar...protecting your limited mental abilities, and capacity to own up to your own deficiencies.
If you intended to remain anonymous while talking about mental health. You failed.

You would make your point much better without the hyperbole. I agree with you that the mentally ill have been converted to slave labor via the prison system. However the school problem lies at the feet of the teacher's unions.

Yeah, he never should have let Kennedy write it.
