Uggh. Probably not the most biased guy out there, but more up front about it than most.

WEST LIBERTY, W.VA. (WTOV) – Students studying at West Liberty
University have a syllabus that bans FOX News as a source in papers.
They are being told what sources they can use in a political science
course. The courses syllabus recommends that they not use the satirical
news source, The Onion, and the right leaning source FOX New
A copy of the syllabus has been published by Fox News. This is an excerpt:
“DO NOT use:

The Onion – this is not news this is literally a parody
Fox News – The tagline “Fox News” makes me cringe. Please do not
subject me to this biased news station. I would almost rather you print
off an article from the Onion,” the syllabus stated.

Abbey. If his students are Dumb enough to follow his demands. They deserve whatever life they end up living, always dependent upon someone else to do their thinking. Which leaves them totally unreliable, and irresponsible for anything. Perfect candidates for the FOREST GUMP "Stupid is, as Stupid does" perpetually dumb crowd.
I know the Onion is a farce. But they are always PERFECTLY DEAD ON when talking about Obama, or his Administration of Democrat Drones.

I'd like to see the full syllabus. Haven't been able to find it yet.
If she bans other biased news organizations as sources, all is well. But if just pointing out Fox News while allowing liberal sources such as MSNBC or Huffington Post then we have a problem.

Looks like it was ONLY Fox, but now of course she has lifted the restriction.

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — Students and parents are questioning a college professor after she reportedly issued assignment criteria that filtered student’s research options.

The assignment criteria told students in a West Liberty University political science course what sources they can and cannot use.

Among those students are asked not to use are The Onion, an openly fictitious parody of real-life news, and Fox News, a professional news organization.

In the assignment criteria, the professor allegedly says, "The tagline Fox News makes me cringe."

"One of our values at West Liberty is to encourage students to go out and inquire and gather information and look at as many different sources as possible on any side, before you reach your opinion," said Robin Capehart, president of West Liberty University.

Upset students and parents have taken their concerns to local media, like NEWS9’s news partner Dave Bloomquist at WWVA, who shared an email from a concerned parent with us.

Parents claim it is unfair to the students to encourage some sources which lean in one direction politically, while discouraging those going in the other direction.

"If students have concerns about these types of issues, they can approach their department chair, they can approach the dean," said Capehart.

Bloomquist also spoke with the professor, Stephanie Wolfe, on the radio this morning, but she declined to speak with NEWS9.

"Any attempt to limit the breadth of a student's ability to investigate is obviously something at which we have a concern," said Capehart.

Officials said that Wolfe is only with the university for this year in place of another instructor who had taken leave.

They also said Wolfe has gone back to the class and lifted any limitation on research sources.

And even with the restriction being lifted, any student in that class who goes ahead and cites Fox News in a paper is probably going to get a poor grade.

Abbey. I hope you are right. And if she does give poor grades, despite lifting her ban. GUESS WHO will be watching like a hawk?

I love to experiment with those who brag about Tenure.

That's a retarded restriction. If it limits to peer reviewed, that's one thing; but to limit media sources in a poliSci class is abundantly biased no matter what. I mean sure, there's bias in media, but that's all part of political science. You consider all media sources' bias-- its part of the process. To forbid the consideration of any public source of information, let alone any particular source (wikipedia even) is to limit the breadth of intellectual pursuit. Of course, you should vet the source. I can't count how many literature and article reviews I've done; the whole purpose was to examine the narrative. Taking that away does a disservice to higher learning.

I couldn't pass up a challenge like that. Someone tells me not to use Fox News, eh? OK, then how about World Net Daily, the UK Telegraph, New Hampshire Union Leader & Sunday News, CNS News, Boston Herald, Washington Times, NY Post. If some cheesy Professor wants to box me in, I'm going to force him/her to demand all assignments further leftist ideology. :fu:

Fox News drives detail oriented people like me nuts, they make exactly those kind of screw-ups on a regular basis. One that is seared in my memory is Sarah Palin being from Wasilla, AL (ALABAMA ?!?!?!).

If I had to use CBS as a source instead of FOX, then my paper would have to say George Bush didn't attend his National Guard duties, based on a perfectly legitimate Microsoft Word document from 1970.

On the other hand, here are examples of blatant fraud committed by MSNBC in their quest to push the liberal agenda - truth be damned

MSNBC daytime anchor Contessa Brewer was betrayed (or so she says) by her prompter into welcoming Reverend Al Sharpton onto her show, when really the person in the studio was Reverend Jesse Jackson. Jackson, as you can imagine, was not pleased. But as Gawker's John Cook pointed out, "If Fox News did this, there would be sit-ins." Meanwhile I am confident this liberal Professor would be happy to accept someone like Chris Matthews as a solid source of information despite the fact he has been proven to be a fountain of misinformation

Yet this man is held in high esteem among the left and is still considered to be a "journalist" Here on Meet The Depressed, Chris offers up the defense that damn near every Obama supporter offers up when the failures of his policies are mentioned

It all the R's fault

The Washington Post is held in high esteem with liberal everywhere. The contempt they show for conservatives is legendary.

Well the jumped on a story about Sarah Palin and Sarah got the last laugh

After parting ways with Fox News Channel, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will continue to reach out to Americans as a contributor for Al Jazeera English, according to Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she-the-people/wp/2013/02/12/sarah-palins-plan-to-reach-millions-of-devoutly-religious-people-through-al-jazeera/?wprss=rss_she-the-people) contributor Suzi Parker.

“Late last week Al Jazeera America announced the former vice-presidential candidate would be joining their news network,” she writes.

There’s just one problem with Miss Parker’s “scoop”: It’s 100 percent bogus. Her entire story is based on a fake report from the parody website The Daily Currant (http://dailycurrant.com/), the same site responsible for the “Ann Coulter Refuses to Board Airplane With Black Pilot (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/01/31/racist-witch-the-left-goes-nuts-after-falling-for-parody-sites-fake-story-on-ann-coulter/)” story that sparked so much hatred from the left.

Apparently, it didn’t occur to the author of “Sex in the South: Unbuckling the Bible Belt” that a “news” site with stories such as “Mugabe Bans the Color White (http://dailycurrant.com/2013/02/02/zimbabwes-mugabe-pledges-ban-color-white/),” “Cory Booker Gives CPR to Random Person at Super Bowl (http://dailycurrant.com/2013/02/03/corey-booker-saves-life-decorated-veteran-super-bowl/),” “Glenn Beck Calls 911 After Accidentally Eating Halal Pizza (http://dailycurrant.com/2013/02/05/glenn-beck-calls-911-accidentally-eating-halal-pizza/),” and “Vladimir Putin Kills Grizzly Bear With Bare Hands (http://dailycurrant.com/2013/02/08/vladimir-putin-kills-bear-attacking-baby/)” could, you know, be fake.

But perhaps having filed the Palin story under “Too Good To Check,” Parker embraced the idea of the former vice presidential candidate moving to al-Jazeera and dove headfirst into explaining the dangers of mixing celebrity with politics.

“The Sarah Palin Story is a cautionary tale about what can happen when politics and celebrity meet,” she writes.

“Fame, not legislating, is clearly what Palin still seeks. She had to be at least a bit giddy last month when actress Julianne Moore won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Palin in the HBO miniseries ‘Game Change,’” she adds.

She goes on to cite Palin’s “interview” with The Daily Currant.

“As you all know, I’m not a big fan of newspapers, journalists, news anchors and the liberal media in general,” Palin supposedly said. “But I met with the folks at Al-Jazeera and they told me they reach millions of devoutly religious people who don’t watch CBS or CNN. That tells me they don’t have a liberal bias.”

Parker couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mock Palin.

“Ironically, Fox News recently called Al Jazeera ‘an anti-American terror mouthpiece,’” Parker notes. “Bless her heart, is Palin trying her best to stay relevant while her 15 minutes fades into the political history books?”

What’s odd about the Parker SNAFU, as Mediaite’s Noah Rothman (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/01/31/racist-witch-the-left-goes-nuts-after-falling-for-parody-sites-fake-story-on-ann-coulter/) notes, is that her story includes numerous links and citations. So how did she miss the fact that The Daily Currant is a gag website during her research?

Anyway, it wasn’t long before the Internet informed Parker and the Washington Post that their story was less than accurate. They quickly issued a “correction” and scrubbed any mention of The Daily Currant. But, you see, once something goes on the Internet, it’s forever:

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/02/12/mainstream-media-contributor-falls-for-fake-sarah-palin-al-jazeera-story-and-the-storys-been-scrubbed/

You're preaching to the choir. A good gauge to see just how hard left the stories are is to compare them to: http://www.granma.cu/ingles/index.html

For example:

• Correa: possible CIA plot (http://www.granma.cu/ingles/ouramerica-i/7ener-correa.html)
January7,13ECUADORAN President Rafael Correa is not discounting the possibility that the CIA is plotting an attempt on his life in the run-up to February’s presidential elections.
