I wasn't sure where to post this. Back on DP we had a Random Discussion forum.

You guys should have forums for "Gun Control" and "Abortion." Those are really hot topics that would draw a lot more activity to this forum. :coffee:

That's gonna get confusing real fast, as around these parts we call our board "DP" too!

The lounge is the perfect spot for anything you wish to discuss, for the most part, that isn't political. As for gun control and abortion, God knows we discuss enough about those 2 subjects. The first 2 forums at the very top - current events and politics, depending on the story of course.

Oh gosh I just noticed that, LOL! I really like the build of your forum, but if I may:

You should really make them seperate forums. The other forum did it and they're insanely active. When politically-minded people see those "distinct battlefields" if you will, they'll register to your forum just to post there, then check out the rest of DP. Like magnets. Seriously, I'd do it.

Also, I'd put a political "Poll" section right at the very top of your forum, followed by "Breaking News." Guests will see the Poll section first and vote, and increase the chances of them registering. Also with Breaking news comes guests hungry to read and maybe even discuss it; they'd have to register to discuss the breaking news first.

Well, we're certainly always looking to have new members posting here, and are always willing to upgrade and improve. I'll keep those suggestions in mind.

You're not totally in until you instruct Jim in digital corporal storage solutions AKA where he can put his message board. :salute:

Agreed Wake. It is a great thing. Make sure you maintain that standard. Avoid being like Obama, and making up stuff that needs the cover of more lies that never succeed.

I am one of the more recent arrivals. I find that those topics have been discussed, are discussed and fought about.

You have to really study how Jim set this up and I have blundered and he has moved my posts to the correct threads.

Watch, study and learn his forum. If you have a suggestion, he has a way for you to send him a private message so you don't get beat up by some of the cranks on this forum.

I have spent a lot of time on the gun issue since I put a lot of value in the 2nd amendment and call your attention to the terms of said amendment, such as it shall not be infringed.

Abortions are not so much talked about but I believe for the most part, they are gastly events engaged in by mothers who have no pause at all in killing children.

I think you now understand where I stand on both issues.

With all due respect, if you want to discuss something you should work with what was actually said.

No one "barged in," as you'd make it seem, or told anyone to change a lot of things. Who demanded anything? Your last comment harms your credibility more than anything else I'm afraid.

Does this forum have a lot of strengths and unique forums? You bet. In no way does that mean a straightforward suggestion meant to help shouldn't ever be made. Perhaps you shouldn't be so judgmental and belligerent, and consider if the suggestion itself has merit.

If you're pi$$ing people off, it guarantees you're being NOTICED! Nice job! A good way to figure out the REAL (unwritten) rules is to push the limits and see what happens. I'm STILL waiting for you to instruct Jim on corporal storage solutions, or better yet try topping that. I defeated the security at one forum that ticked me off and started posting the grossest morgue photos I could find.

Making a well-meant suggestion is in no way meant to anger people. I have no idea what corporal storage solutions are, but does that mean helpful suggestions aren't ok? Not sure about you, but I don't "defeat" forum's security and post the most grotesque photos one can find, either, so..

Back to what was actually said, an Abortion forum would likely be a good move, because Abortion is one of the bigger political issues out there. As well as Gun Control/Gun issues, considering the recent media buzz over it.

It is true, IMO, that gun control and abortion are the two biggest issues conflicting America. Bigger than religion vs. atheism. Or even socialism vs. conservatism.

I think abortion is not going to be a long-lived issue: it's mostly just males expressing discomfort with how women have escaped from their control. But we have, so they'll have to get used to it.

Gun control, however, may very well be the issue that starts the next civil war. I think.

It's like Mormonism and slavery: both were HUGE national issues in the 1850s --- but now everyone has forgotten how important Mormonism was then, because it was the issue of slavery that started the Civil War.

(Yes, I know slavery was only the indirect issue and what really started the Civil War was the north wanting back the states that seceded. But still. They seceded because of slavery.)

Your side just might win the gun issue. A simple way to do it is just make the country so poor that people have to sell their guns for food. Problem solved.

Naaaaaah, that's never how it works. The people with the guns will take food away from people without guns -- that's how it always works.

So what happened to that Wake guy? Last post 2/18...........

He came in, threw the cat among the pigeons, or tried to, then vamoosed?

Probably a psych student writing a paper on how to stir up trouble on a message board. He didn't manage to stir up much, though.

Why do you persist in running down my church? You called us terrible. Now you put Mormons into the same sentence as slavery! What gives with you lady?

Since you followed up the comment above with the statement that the civil war was not about slavery, I take leave of the above comment. I agree that slavery is not why Lincoln ruthlessly invaded a state that had departed the union. Had Lincoln not invaded, that war would never have taken place.

Who do you claim had problems with Mormons? Do you mean over some of the men marrying the women whose husbands were killed off or died from disease? I think the women liked being in a family where a bread winner was. By the way, anybody back then could marry as many women as he could support.

Now, of some state law said they could not do that, they simply left the state.
