How this beautiful voice comes from this 70,000 pound man is beyond me, but he's absolutely fantastic. One of my all time favorites. Such a shame that he passed so early.

The first one was really beautiful. Brought a tear to my eye. Thanks for posting that!

A 70,000 pound man?
By the way, a friend of mine invited me to see an Israeli rock band last year. They were pretty dynamic.

Watch the 2 videos, seriously. While I joke about the mans size, he is one of the best singers I have ever heard.
Another of my favorites - a song about Hawaii

He reminds me of Demis Roussos, a Greek singer who once recorded with the composer Vangelis.
Demis once approached 400 pounds, but his powerful voice was renowned throughout the world (except in the U.S.). Don't know if he still performs.

Not bad, not bad at all. Not my style of music though, so I'm a biased person to compare them. Oh, and Israel was fatter, in reality he was nearing 800lbs.
And yet another awesome tune from him:
-----
Intro: I was scared when I lost my mother, my father, my brother, my sister. I guess, this is gonna sound kinda weird. I'm not scared for myself. For dying. Because I believe all of these...all temporary, this is a shell. Because in Hawaii we live in both worlds.I don't know if you can relate to this:we live on both sides. Kind of like if I go now, that's all right. I'll go set the table for you guys, keep the stew hot. We can't help it. It's in our veins. It's the koko that flows in our body.
Starting all over again is going to be rough
For us, we're going to make it
Starting all over as friends is going be tough
On us, we gotta face it
We lost what we had
That what hurt us so bad
Set us back a thousand years
But we going to make it up
Though I know it's going to be tough
To erase the hurt and fears
Starting all over again is going to be hard
But I pray to the Lord to help us make it
Starting all over again is going to slow
But we both know, we gonna make it
We gotta take life as it comes
Never fuss about it, what's right or wrong
It's an uphill climb, to the finish line
We gonna try, we gonna try, just one more time
We gotta take life as it comes
Don't make any fuss about it, what's right or wrong
We gonna make it up, though I know it's gonna be rough
To erase the hurt and fears
Starting all over again is going to be rough
For us, we're going to make it
Starting all over as friends is going be tough
On us, we gotta face it

He was well known in the Islands. I remember seeing the Youtube tribute for him after he died.
The Hawaiian people held a beautiful Funeral ceremony on the water with traditional Hawaiian burial at sea, in this video part of it at the end.
You can Youtube his name and see how much he was loved, and still is.
His Somewhere Over the Rainbow can't be beat. Listen with a tissue in your hand, and a smile in your heart.

Another great listen. This is the introduction on the album I own of his. I had to dig it out to find out the name. But anyway, if you're an Israel fan, it's just kinda neat to hear him play his tiny Ukelele and talk...
