You can, but it's overkill and you must be pretty bad at it. :p

It's basically no different than using a .22 since it shoots a bullet not much bigger.
The gun in question is accurate and with the magazine you can continue shooting if you miss.
The problem with this gun is that it "looks scary".
Jafar: Check out this web sight. The guns are all .22's scroll down to the bottom, they get scary looking, but they all shoot the same small bullets.

The usual unfounded fibs that paranoid gun-haters habitually use, to try to fool people into feeling guns must be regulated by government.

If using an M16 or AK47 on full auto, I would agree with you. But lets look at the AR15 for a moment, which Congress, the media and so many others want to erroneously label an assault weapon. It looks awfully scary... but what benefit would it give a hunter to hunting ducks compared to a regular hunting rifle with comparable sized ammo?

Little-Acorn. Right you are. The usual unfounded LIES of the paranoid LIBERAL GUN HATERS use... Only prove, Once again.
How "IGNORANCE REALLY IS BLISS!"
The only reason for the paranoia is TO SCARE, THREATEN, and PERPETUATE LIES!

Isn't the AR15 basically a consumer version of the M16? If it uses the same 5.56mm ammo I used to use in the Army, it is overkill.

The civilian would use .223 while the military version would be the 5.56
AR 15 rifles typically use .223 Remington and 5.56×45mm ammunition. But what is the difference between the two? Here at Proguns.com, we want to help you understand every aspect of your AR 15. We have compiled some information to help you decipher AR 15 ammunition.
The civilian version of the 5.56 is the .223 Remington, which is simply a longer version of the now defunct .222 Rem. Unlike the 5.56, .223 ammo is able to be safely fired from both the M16 and the civilian AR 15.
The 5.56x45mm is the U.S. military designation of ammo for their AR 15, which they renamed the M16. Although the 5.56 and the .223 have identical dimensions, the 5.56 is usually designed for higher pressures and velocities and is generally considered to be unsafe to shoot from the civilian AR 15.

Looks to me like a plastic toy. Maybe the duck is also plastic.
Took a second look since the above. Look at the magazine. Look how the color exposes the white plastic.
I I tend to doubt the dead bird would have it's eyes open that way so I still think it is a fancy toy.

One thing's for certain, you can't use a politician for duck hunting either (unless you used him as a decoy)

Nothing short of a nuke is --overkill-- if one wants to make sure absolutely , positively the intended target is killed or destroyed. An even a single nuke may not be enough if the target has been hardened adequately.
On people with pistol I recommend 40 caliber or larger, at least 12 ga with shotgun and with rifle 30'06 /308 Winchester caliber or larger. With knife nothing less than 6 inch blade. Club, a regulation size baseball bat.. ;)

Tyr. As all of us have been seeing on this topic since the CT school shootings. The favorite Weapon of Liberal choice has become the
AR-15. Which tells everyone, from the Get-Go....that an Amateur, Non Gun Owner, Gun Hater is talking out of their BUTT.
Like that constantly repeated Liberal Lie. So many people have heard Liberal Lies so often, and for so long. They finally are convinced...the LIE MUST BE TRUE. So goes it for the AR-15.

regarding overkill: When I shoot something I want to ensure I kill it promptly. Most states regulate larger, more powerful guns - the bigger the intended game. It's the humane thing to do.

Both the 7mm mag and the 30-06 are overkill for deer size game but one thing for sure is they both insure less wounded animals and more clean kills. Humane thing to do is quite accurate and the right thing to do.
If I ever have to shoot a human its not to wound that person. Its a matter of life or death and my intent is to kill that person. Go with the sure kill its safer all the way around ..-Tyr

Who says "You can't use an assault rifle for duck hunting?"
If someone has an assault rifle, and they go hunting for ducks. What do they do? Throw mud balls?
Because someone says it shouldn't be done, doesn't mean it CAN'T BE DONE.
Obama was told he can't Ignore the Law, or the Constitution. But he does it all the time.
If you want to do something, and someone tells you "you can't". That only makes it more likely it will be attempted.
