There's a lot talk going around about guns, but not the one other common link in all the school shooting incidents; the psychiatric medications all shooters were taking.
The media is not even mentioning this and has zero curiosity about these medications as contributing factors.

This article is making the case that a rare side effect of some psychotropic drugs is to make people more sucicidal/homicidal.
If so, that should indeed be investigated.
But the usual problem with psychotics is that they do NOT take their meds. They are better in the short hospital stay, they are dismissed, they stop taking their drugs because they are crazy and also because the drugs have yucky and often actually damaging effects, and pretty soon they get the screaming meemies on buses and shove people off subway platforms.
Some of the examples are bad. Hinckley took Valium before he shot Reagan? Yes, he did, to calm his nerves he said, but who can reasonably suppose Valium could cause Hinckley to shoot anyone? He'd been hunting Carter and then Reagan for years, following them from city to city.
There could be something there, but my opinion is that we need big state mental hospitals where bad head cases can be just kept for the rest of their lives. You can't hope to cure or fix everyone with drugs -- whether the problem is that they DO take them or whether they DON'T take them, and there are just too many homicidal maniacs running around freely.
