Well.......I was raised in Jersey (which means I am shy and quiet most of the time) I moved around a lot NY, PA, GA.... Spent some time in Seattle before moving to a TINY island outside of Sitka, in 92, where I learned about the value of plumbing and fire arms... Spent the next 20 years bouncing around this fantastic state from Shemya to Kotzebu to Seward and Valdez, I try to avoid Fairbanks when ever I can unless Rick is there.

Took a vacation from the wild and did a stint in Cambridge, NY as an assistant chef in 08 but quickly found out that I did the same exact thing at the hunting lodge, and at the lodge people were more fun to be around.

Prior to meeting Rick I spent 6 to 9 months of the year (for 11 years) at a remote hunting/fishing lodge, about 300 mile by air from Anchorage, the closest town was Port Alsworth which was 45 minutes away in the super cub.
Being the only girl in the woods is fun, although I did bring my daughter out most summers for at least a few months every year.
I have been known to "Pack" a 50 cal, run off bears, move 1,000 pounds of moose, and make a mean Eggs Benny from scratch, even the English Muffins, the on a wood stove.
My last year out there I brought Rick with me for a visit. The guys wanted to see if he was good enough for "The Girl in the Kitchen", Rick passed with flying colors.;)
I do sometimes miss having three months of vacation time and flying around in a cub landing on mountain tops to picking berries, but Rick has made for a good trade for the wilder days.

I tend to be Conservative, but I have voted for a Democrat.... but not very often.

Rick and I are totally simpatico and balance each other perfectly I think. Most days I can get him to come around to my way of thinking if we don't agree. lol

What else would you like to know?

Great to hear a REAL WOMAN speaking up for life, rather than trying to impress everyone with long lists of personal achievements we are expected to admire, and be impressed with...feeling slighted, or down for being such terrible people.

I may also forget about this, as I know now that you both like to carry guns. Also since Rick has talked about coming to the NY area before long.

Just wanted to point out just how kind I am about bypassing the rules around here. :coffee:

Kennedy was better the Colonia!

My grandmother still lives in So. Plainfield so I go back as often as I can

Nope. Here's what I mainly remember: The hot dog cart near the NJ Transit bus stop, which had the BEST chili dogs in the world. Also, my boyfriend worked one summer filling the GATX tanker cars. The house I lived in was on Etheridge Dr.

I did not get off I-95 but just looked up that city and found that I drove past it going up to a motel close to the Holland Tunnel.

I probably was cited for not paying the toll for the turnpike but never got a citation sent to me. I was in a rental car anyway. I found a woman cop at the Holland tunnel and she tried to help me. She got me turned around and I went to a toll booth with a person in it and told him I had made a mistake by going through the fast pass toll booth. He shruged his shoulders and says, you have to wait on the citation. I ended up paying a very small fee to him since the cop had sent me for free to another spot where I could turn around ergo, paying him. Seems I must have turned around two times since on that part of the trip, I did not go through the holland tunnel. I did the following day. I kept the toll ticket for a long time. I may still have the thing. I had come north from VA so imagine the fee was in the area of ten dollars.

And guess what? When I got back to CA, I sure did not want to bother NJ with my petty problem.

Kewl. At Ft. Dix, two funny stories.
1962 story.

I got to Ft. Dix from Ft. Benning, GA and had a plane ride to Philly. Then bussed to Ft. Dix. Mom was in NY City with my younger brother, waiting for me to get to Ft. Dix. I told the Officer of the day I needed a pass to go to NY City. He flat turned me down saying it was not clear when I would embark to Germany by air. I told Mom I was sorry but I could not leave the post. It was maybe a couple hrs after I told her that i got called to the Orderly room where the officer of the Day informed me I was granted a pass to NY City. Come to find out that we had an Army General in our family and he was in charge of some post in the city. A General sure can perform miracles. I never met the man though.

64 story

I knew this command Sgt. Major who had served with me at the base in Germany. When I got to Ft. Dix, I wanted to get the hell out of there. I went to the main part of the post and the CSM drove me back to the part of the base I was housed at and took me to see personnel. He told them to get me out super fast. This CSM was top dog at Ft. Dix for enlisted men.

Those guys working in personnel know all the tricks. But they resented him trying to help me. It worked out that I got no slack at all. I think it took them another 4 days to get me out of there.

A rule in the Army. Do not mess with personnel. They know how to screw you good.
