My Steelers are 6-3 and beat the Giants, so I WAS complete, but Ben Roethlisberger just got a sprained shoulder in the last game, and hurt his ribs, so is out for this Sunday nights game versus division rivals Baltimore Ravens. They are 7-2 and we need to keep pace with them. I hope he comes back quick too, as they play them Sunday night, and then again in 2 weeks!

Steelers vs. Ravens this Sunday is gonna be ugly. The stat I read is that backup quarterback, Leftwich, hasn't started since 2009 and hasn't won a game as starting quarterback since 2006! He looked real rusty coming in against the Chiefs but that was to be expected. He has little time to get comfortable. The pressure is on the Steelers defense to hold the Ravens and hope Leftwich pulls off a few good plays. My hopes are not high for a win :(

Leftwich was pretty darn good when he played for Jacksonville, I remember him doing fairly well against us a few times. And while he's been warming the bench for awhile, he does play with the 2nd string all week long. Hopefully our D will step up bigtime, and we can get the rushing game going to run the clock. Baltimore scored 55 in their last game! If Flacco and Ray Rice get going like that, no way Leftwich wins for us. But hey, my towel is ready nonetheless, gotta have faith!!

I don't know, how are the Lions doing? The Falcons seem to be doing OK but to rate my enthusiasm further, the first time I was in the GA Dome was this past Tuesday was to watch two basketball games. :cheers2:

My friends son was the coach of Jacksonville. My friend and I played for the same high school. Currently Jack coaches the Denver defense.
My favorite team just kissed the other team and tied them.
I am trying to figure San Francisco out. One time they seem to be about to break out and then they do what they did vs the Rams. They lose to the Giants and then the Giants to on a losing streak.
I tend to think the Steelers are in deep trouble with the loss of their QB.

The Lions are 4-5 with a great QB and one of the best WR's in the NFL. If they had a good D they would easily be a playoff team. The Falcons look awesome, even though I watched NO beat them this past weekend. I'm sure they're happy still with their 8-1 start!!

Given you live in NY why do ou back the Steelers?
That said, I was not aware of the injury to the QB for the steelers but if you are right and he hurt his shoulder, was it so slight he only misses one week? Was it his throwing shoulder? Ben can play with pain and he has proved that in the past.
Our QB was hurt by a concussion. I think had he not been hurt, the game would have been won by him.
The Falcons came to play NO and I expected them to win. They were beat but not real bad.

Hey, I'm from California and have been a Steeler's fan since I was a little boy in the late 70s. Besides, consider the alternatives:
Those pretty boy Rams were the ladies team so they were out and being a Raiders fan meant turning away from any sense of morality and ethics and engaging in a life of crime and general thuggery. San Francisco would have been a decent choice but it was Super Bowl XIV that put me firmly in the Steeler camp.

The 49ers won 4 super bowls and I believe are the only team to never lose the super bowl.
I spent lots of money on the Raiders as their fan but when they moved to LA, I kissed them off. When they came back, It was still ill feelings they left in the first place and lots of former fans like me refused to go back to them.
I can't be a supporter of teams clear across the country. I lost interest in the Raiders who remained in CA. When I fill their coffers with my cash, and they bail out, out of sight is out of mind.

A concussion can actually end up being worse than a sprained shoulder. But both are week to week decisions. Ben's a warrior and has played through lots worse than a sore shoulder, and so long as there really isn't "damage", I can't see it being longer than a week, but I'm no doctor.
I grew up going camping non-stop with my Dad and family, in Pennsylvania mostly. Back then it was the crappy little 17-20 inch TV with an antenna, and the only games televised were Steelers and Eagles games - luckily for me I fell for the Steelers. Been a HUGE fan since I was about 5-6yrs old, when I really didn't even understand the game but wanted the black and gold team to win anyway! My earliest memory is when they played in the SB in 1976, against the Cowboys, who was my Mom's favorite team. I remember her being a big Tom Landry and Roger Staubach fan, and Billy "white shoes" Johnson. I was so uptight about a game, at such a young age, that I gave myself a migraine headache and missed most of it. Mom woke me up at the end to let me know the Steelers won!
36 years later I have a Steelers tattoo, thousands of dollars in merchandise & a lot of awesome memories!! Even in the 80's to mid 90's, when they royally sucked, I was still bleeding black and gold!

The shoulder sprain is the least of his problems. The real bad news is the broken rib he has. According to his doctors, it could puncture his aorta. I'm no doctor either but I know that's not good

The steelers won 75 percent of those games whereas the 9ers won 100 percent.
As it is proven each year, it is very hard to stay on top permanently. I believe the 9rs also won two in a row. How about the steelers?
More than what the teams did, I have a hard time with the Giants and Jets in your area why you back a team that is something like 370 miles away. I verified the distance since my guess was about 500 miles. I have not driven the direct route from one city to the other.
My hunch is you see them as winners and want to be on that wagon with them. I have not counted up championships but since the Giants are a long established team, would not surprise me if they won more national championships than even the 9rs. I plan to check that too.

Just as I thought. The NY Giants won 8 championships counting all years they played.
And the 9ers did take 5 over a much shorter peiod but have not taken it since 1994. (I was stunned it was that long ago)
And the Steelers won 6 in total.

Steelers won two in a row in '75 and '76. It's a bit hard to say someone is on the "wagon" with the Steelers after being a fan for over 30 years. Especially, as Jim noted, what fans endured through the 80s and 90s. Bleh, even I had a brief affair with the Bengals during that time

The Giants prior wins were before the merger and before the Super Bowl. Also, the Steelers won 2 in a row TWICE - 75&76 and then again in 78&79!

I knew this when I was 5 or 6 years old? LOL And remained a fan for nearly 40 years now? Through some horrendous teams? No way, I'm no bandwagon fan. Been a Steelers fan from day one and never wavered. Same for the LA Dodgers in baseball and the NY Rangers in hockey and Penn State in college football.

While others just laugh and ask "Is that a Football team?" or..."Do they have a team?"
Nobody's perfect. I play the game this way. My favorite teams are...EAGLES, PIRATES, COWBOYS, GIANTS, PACKERS, VIKINGS.

Well, what you described to me is what I call being on their wagon. A funny story that is about my oldest daughter who is now middle aged in her 40s.
We were at my Dads and he had the playoff game on between the Steelers vs the Raiders.
This was a long time ago. The game was tight and the Raiders had just got a lead late in the game. The Raiders had the Steelrs way back and seemed about to win.
Suddenly Terry Bradshaw tosses a pass that got called the immaculate reception and won the game.
When the Raiders pulled into the lead, Linda commenced to cry thinking the Steelers lost. When the Raiders suddenly lost, she was super pleased.
Me, I was upset that the Raiders got beat. LOL
I asked her why she liked the Steelers. She loved their uniform she said.
Today she and her husband are rabid SF Giants fans and I believe they also support the 49ers.

Dan Rooney thought the Steelers lost that game and was on his way down via the elevator to console his team on a hard fought playoff loss. He didn't know what happened when he heard the crowd go wild. That's one of the most famous plays in NFL history.
Oh, and you quoted me when you talked about being a bandwagon fan, and you couldn't be further from the truth, maybe about a universe away. About 95% of my life I've been a Steelers fan, probably over $5k worth of memorabilia, and a tattoo that lasts forever.

I represented the buyer of a home in my area that a starting line backer for the Redskins bought. When he sold it, I represented him again.
During the course of the transaction, the lender was about to turn him down and I had to call the Redskins and explain what was going on and could they send me a letter stating he would be playing into the future.
I was amazed at the stationery the Redskins use. I swear, it is a work of art. I would have liked to keep the original but I had to turn it in.
Upshot. They played the Raiders who beat the hell out of them in the Super Bowl. Anthony got one hell of a large check for that game.
He later showed up for fall practice and they traded him to Tampa Bay who did not keep him.
This was due to a minor knee injury that he had surgery for but was able to play the game.
At the time of the letter, his agent was dealing with the Redskins seeking a huge raise.
He got the raiise then lost his job.
Anthony had played a couple years for the Steelers under Chuck noll and Gibbs at the Redskins.
He favored Gibbs over noll.
He ended up working for the state of CA in the prisons divgision. Got a huge cut in pay.

Seattle Seahawks guys. Really look at who they are - Sure, they haven't done anything since winning SB XL then having it stolen from the Refs (The green bay game this year did NOT make up for it, but we'll take it). The Hawks have the Rookie leader in Sacks, Touchdowns, and 2nd in Tackles.
Watch Wilson - how can you not think a guy named after two Athletic Equipment companies would NOT be awesome.

Just so you know. Long ago. I had a friend whose neighbor grew up with the uncle of an NFL referee, who knew a few professional NFL cheerleader's parents that were really proud their daughter's best friend married a guy who tried to become a football player, but moved to San Francisco, and became a member of the Village People, before they became famous. And he is now homeless, but doing very well since the Mayor authorized paychecks to the homeless who clean up the parking lot...after the 49'rs Games.

I'm not a Panthers fan. My estranged spouse (of 6 years) is from Raleigh Durham. Her kid was a Deadskins fan. Before my brother ruined it because he's about the Cowboys like Jim is the Steelers, I was a fan of both teams. My first realization I define myself by my enemies is when I checked in at base in Virginia and the MSgt was a Redskins fan and just assumed I was a Cowboys fan. And I realized I still hated the Redskins from the George Allen days.

I am a Fan of the Team in which ever city I live in...Lived in many cities ..I own a home here in Charlotte now...Thus I am a Panthers Fan...When a "home team" wins its good for the City...people are happy...they spend money and Feel good when they are happy...that makes me happy.

I know the drill. Unless I'm on the West Coast. I hate all their damned teams. People want to talk torture? Be stuck watching AFC West games. And if they weren't on, you got the NFC West. Then, you get the Lakers and Clippers.
Get Broncos games here in ABQ.
Just shoot my ass.
