U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told the NAACP annual convention on July 10 in Houston that he opposes a new photo ID requirement in Texas elections because it would be harmful to minority voters.

Updated at 2:42 p.m. ET: A federal court in Washington on Thursday blocked a Texas law that would require voters to present photo IDs to election officials before being allowed to cast ballots in November, saying it would place an unfair burden on minorities and the poor.

A three-judge U.S. District Court panel ruled that that SB 14, described as the most stringent voter ID law in the country, imposes "strict, unforgiving burdens on the poor" and noted that racial minorities in Texas are more likely to live in poverty.
“Texas, seeking to implement its voter ID law, bears the burden of proof and must therefore show that SB 14 lacks retrogressive effect. But as we have found, everything Texas has submitted as affirmative evidence is unpersuasive, invalid, or both,” the opinion said.

Shortly after noon on Aug. 8, 2012, Robert Cappuccilli, a field operative for Rhode Island congressional candidate Anthony Gemma (democrat), met with Erasmo Ramirez of Providence (see video below), who said he could deliver absentee ballot votes to the Gemma campaign for $500 a week. Cappuc
cilli wore a hidden microphone provided to him by investigators who secretly recorded the meeting.

The surveillance video was obtained by The Providence Journal and was edited to remove a Social Security number mentioned in the footage and the name of a man who does not appear in the video.

What is most disgusting is that this is obviously an ongoing business that Liberal Democrats see as legitimate business to be purchased for their candidate. There is no doubt that after seeing it, we all know how people like Harry Reid got elected when he was down 6 points in the polls in 2010. Now we know why Obama and his corrupt DOJ are suing States who want to clean up their voting rolls.

Here in the South many blacks vote at several voting locations every election and are paid by the Dems to do so, even dead ones vote .. It is a regular system and that is why they opposed voter ID laws. Those federal judges should be horsewhipped within an inch of thier miserable lives IMHO. Minority rights my ass, they tossed the Texas voter ID law in order to preserve the massive voter fraud that benefits only the dem party and has for well over a hundred years..

$10 is an unfair burden? We're all supposed to be carrying ID anyway. Look, I get poverty, but how do you expect the poor to get jobs without proper IDs, since those are required by federal law in order to get work. Wouldn't you say that that is a much greater burden? But yet that's legal, and this isn't, somehow.

And how is it "moving backwards", as the word retrogressive suggests? If there's voter fraud going on, then of course Texas is going to try and stop that crap, and simply asking for ID is the simplest way to make sure that the person voting is the person who is supposed to be voting.
