Figure out what one wants to see and work for that. Indeed, that seems to be something that is currently missing in politicians today. Here’s some quotes on America from the past, some humorous, some not. All though actually about the country and reflections of what it is, has been, and a hope of what it would be:
1. My dream is of a place and a time where America will once again be seen as the last best hope of earth.
Abraham Lincoln (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/a/abrahamlin130040.html) <o></o>
<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o></o>
2. Peace and abstinence from European interferences are our objects, and so will continue while the present order of things in America remain uninterrupted.
Thomas Jefferson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/t/thomasjeff169581.html)
3. With our technology, with objects, literally three people in a garage can blow away what 200 people at Microsoft can do. Literally can blow it away. Corporate America has a need that is so huge and can save them so much money, or make them so much money, or cost them so much money if they miss it, that they are going to fuel the object revolution.
Steve Jobs (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/s/stevejobs416918.html) <o>
</o>
3. All great change in America begins at the dinner table.
Ronald Reagan (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/r/ronaldreag183750.html)
4. Today we did what we had to do. They counted on America to be passive. They counted wrong.
Ronald Reagan (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/r/ronaldreag147715.html)
5. No one has been barred on account of his race from fighting or dying for America, there are no white or colored signs on the foxholes or graveyards of battle.
John F. Kennedy (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/j/johnfkenn400633.html)
6. America has tossed its cap over the wall of space.
John F. Kennedy
(http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/j/johnfkenn114947.html)
7. America is another name for opportunity.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/r/ralphwaldo162725.html) <o>
</o>
8. Laughter is America's most important export.
Walt Disney (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/w/waltdisney163730.html)
9. Some day, following the example of the United States of America, there will be a United States of Europe.
George Washington (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/g/georgewash387134.html)
10. Europe was created by history. America was created by philosophy.
Margaret Thatcher (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/m/margaretth153834.html)

Personally I can think of a lot of things more debilitating, Kathianne.
It's sort of like saying, I can think of nothing more debilitating to our country than war, when two countries are fighting each other with tanks, planes, ships, guns and all the rest.
Well, here's something more debilitating to our country: When someone attacks us with those weapons, and we don't fight back, but merely let them have their way.
So too would it be more debilitating to our country that the present "sniping" (as you call it) if the liberals try to impose their socialism on the rest of us, and we tamely sit around and don't resist. That's exactly what the people of the Soviet Union did in 1917 when a small group of socialists tried to take over there. How'd that work out for them?
We *are* putting together plans for what is best, and working to implement them. And a lot of the "sniping" (more correctly called "debating") is doing a lot of good.
The rest (where the term "sniping" is actually correct) is just the froth on top of the kettle: worthless, but unimportant, and best ignored. It's what you always get when imperfect people (as we all are) get involved in issues. Complaining about it is silly, calling it significant even more silly.
Relax. Good stuff is happening. Concentrating on the bad stuff is a waste of your time. The good news is, that bad stuff is all the liberals have to offer... and it will turn out to be a waste of their time, too.
But look how far they got, simply by offering bad stuff (lies about conservatives, lies about capitalism, lies about people who make the country run etc.). Now that we are doing good stuff to get rid of it, it can mostly be ignored. But simpply ignoring it in the first place, would have been the WRONG thing to do.
And even fighting fire with fire, at least does no real harm, as long as others are fighting fire with water and actually making progress.

I am relaxed about partisanship. Indeed, quite the opposite. The hyperbole on both sides, whether it's Reid's throwing out McCarthy like accusations or those that consider themselves conservatives accusing liberals of wanting to kill them, are tactics that will backfire on both.
I'm more than aware that politics has always been a blood sport in the US from the minute George Washington returned to Mt. Vernon; even before within his cabinet. What wasn't in doubt though, was that there was an assumption of good intentions from both sides. A love of country, though differing versions of how to improve it.
Today? Not so much. Today there's a real element of destroying the opposition, whatever the costs. The costs though are likely to do damage to the country, not a 'party.'

Everything listed above is too technical for Liberals to call Slogans.
They are known, constantly repeated "LIBERAL TALKING POINTS" from the DNC playbook, or manual that must be read while drinking DNC GRAPE KOOL-AID.
Or, they can Immerse themselves in the KOOL-AID filled DNC Olympic swimming pool to be Anointed by OBAMA either in the pool, or just before he walks across the POTOMAC river in Washington.
