Archaeologists unearth 5,000-year-old 'third-gender' caveman
Archaeologists investigating a 5,000-year-old Copper Age grave in the Czech Republic believe they may have unearthed the first known remains of a gay or transvestite caveman, reports the Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/8433527/First-homosexual-caveman-found.html).
The man was apparently buried as if he were a woman, an aberrant practice for an ancient culture known for its strict burial procedures.
Since the grave dates to between 2900 and 2500 BC, the man would have been a member of the Corded Ware culture, a late Stone Age and Copper Age people named after the unique kind of pottery they produced. Men in this culture were traditionally buried lying on their right side with their heads pointing west, but this man was instead buried on his left side with his head pointing east, which is how women were typically buried.
"From history and ethnology, we know that people from this period took funeral rites very seriously so it is highly unlikely that this positioning was a mistake," said lead archaeologist Kamila Remisova Vesinova. "Far more likely is that he was a man with a different sexual orientation, homosexual or transsexual."

Buried him on his left side, what a queer thing to do.
Just queers trying to make themselves relevant again.
Pretty cool, however, my first thoughts would be that he may of been a disgraced member of the tribe, a man who didn't deserve to be buried like a man...we'll never know, but all the same it's cool.

Yes, maybe he was a coward that refused to defend the village or even had aided one of the enemy.
I read nothing that gave much credence to it being a trans case. The clothing, maybe he was in disguise trying to avoid doing his fighting duty or even an enemy spy that got caught and executed or even a horny peeper that got caught trying to get in with the naked women bathing.-Tyr

Yeah...they didn't really go into a lot of details. My first thought was maybe a healer or medicine man....hence being burried with an egg shaped pot.
I thought maybe they would talk about the clothing too...as to determine why they thought 'transvestite'. But they didn't really.

Being a transvestite means you're mentally ill? There's underlying tones of sexism abound in that thought. (Unless you were joking, idk).

No joke. Anyone who desires to be in another sexes clothing, and many times as a form of sexual pleasure, likely had a few nuts loose in the head.

I must inform my gf with haste! though some mental illness are welcome I guess, if you'd seen her in her 'mens' shirts and blazers I think you'd agree.

Transvestites hardly just place a woman's t-shirt on and call it a day. They wear bras, panties, makeup, wigs - trying to BE women. On the flips side, same with some women who go to lengths to be like a man. It's mostly done for sexual pleasure, which I'm doubting is why your girlfriend would wear an occasional mans shirt or blazer.

They also take pride in trying to fool the public as to their gender. Kind of different then someone's SO wearing their shirts or underware under their clothes for sexual gratification IMO.

She wears whatever she feels comfortable in i.e. whatever she wants to, but are you saying that a man who wears women's clothes, but not underwear/makeup is not mentally ill then?

Does that include men? ie a man who wears his lady's clothes/underwear for sexual gratification?

Depends on what his line of thinking, what his mindset is I suppose. It's certainly not natural to want to dress abnormally. We're talking about transvestites here, and they do what they do for sexual pleasure and such. A lifestyle. If one does it as a lifestyle, it's safe to say the screws are bouncing around off the cranium.

Either sex trying to be another shows their brains are bouncing around too much. Maybe get some cushion in their skulls so it doesn't bounce around and give what appears so be severe brain damage? :dunno:

Wow. I just read where Congressfella Barney Frank got married to his Gay Lover. But I didn't read the part about Barney being a TRANNY too!
Does anyone know? Was Barney Frank originally from THAN FRAN THISCO? And was his Maiden name PELOSI???

Now we're into what natural and normal? A man or a woman wearing whatever they feel good in, and thus sexy in, is abnormal because of preconceived notions that you have about what they should wear because is what someone told you was 'right'?
That logic goes nowhere, for example, I'm sure from memory that you has tattoos on your arms, they are obviously not natural, and if one were so
Inclined, it could be argued that it's abnormal to want to permanently dye your skin. Though I'm sure you consider it an outward expression of yourself (any sexual pleasure derived is neither here not there). But using your logic, you could well be considered to be mentally ill for wanting/having them.

Noir. So, what's the problem here?
Nobody will say anything to you, or anyone else if you prefer what society generally recognizes as Women's clothes. Whatever trips your trigger these days. No Logic, or explanations required. The Whole World is so screwed up. Nothing is a surprise anymore, exept....IF A PRESIDENT, or POLITICIAN...tells the truth.

Tattoos are not natural and it is a bit abnormal to want to permanently alter ones skin. I suppose it could very well be something in the heads of tattoo enthusiasts that makes them want to get inked. No sweat off my back if that's the case. Won't change the fact that those who dress as the opposite sex for sexual reasons is likely a mental thing. The thing is, society is now quite accepting of those with tattoos, they're commonplace now. Society is hardly accepting of transvestites.
Transvestites don't just slip on a little different attire to be comfortable as you try and make it seem, they go the entire 10 yards and then some, to have this weird erotic connection to the opposite sex, by trying to be the opposite sex.
But I can see the connection between the tattoos and transvestites! LOL Call me fucked in the head, I don't care, so long as I'm not putting on panties and mascara!

There's a nice bit of circular reasoning - transvestites are not considered socially acceptable, so you say it's a mental illness, and because it's an illness it shouldn't be socially acceptable...

If you are trying to create the illusion that you are another sex to fool or manipulate people (especially of your own gender) because it gets you off...then yes. If you are wearing your GF's panties because it gets you off thinking about sex with her...kind of kinky...but not the same thing IMO.

And if you're not trying to fool anyone? People like Eddie Izard, who are happy to sometimes where men's clothes, sometimes women's, sometimes makeup etc...
What makes you think certain parts of our society aren't trying to 'socially engineer' people into accepting transvestite behavor as 'normal' just to suit their agenda?
I'm sure some are, however, without the engineering in the first place, there would be no 'counter engineering'. Not doing something is not the same as undoing something that's been done.

Anything that is masking other emotional problems like loneliness, depression, anxiety or stress. Things that can also become an obsession and lead to trouble establishing and maintaining close emotional relationships. You have to establish why a person does what they do...can they control it...does it effect their outside life...is this behavior always on their mind? Then yes...it's an issue.
Just stating that they are 'happy'..but sometimes like to dress like women is kinda vague. People have real reasons as to why they like and do the things they do.

You're simply tring to obfuscate the issue and then trample on semantics. The discussion is supposed to be those who dress as the opposite sex as a form of sexual desire and release. Your girlfriend wearing a few mens clothing is obfuscation, unless she's a tranny. Same with the other comparisons. Look up and read further on the term. Even the man who coined the term did so as he thought they had "psychological situations".

Well, transvestites are still looked at as having psychological issues, from the day the term was coined. No amount of tossing other crap in there will change this. I'm not the one who brought other things into the discussion, I only answered them. Then after I answer, I get told my POV is circular. It's just a way of clouding the point I was making, which can't very easily be disputed. Any person who purposely tries to pass themselves off as the opposite sex, as a habitual way of some weird sort of sexual pleasure, likely has a few screws loose. What you or others thoughts are on OTHER subjects, won't change the facts surrounding THIS subject.

Well by not tracking every twist to get to how we got here, the OP referenced gay or transsexual as possibilities so we can't focus on only one of those options. The comparison was made to societal acceptance and the changing of norms. If one behavior (tattoos) is out of the norm and then becomes the norm it won't be odd for another behavior (homosexuality) outside the norm to become accepted.

Perhaps, I suppose anything is possible. I would admit that homosexuality is becoming a bit more accepted. Transvestites not. You won't find many, if any, accepting of a man walking around in drag, in public. There is what I suppose is "normal", then people who have tattooed themselves, homosexuality & then transvestites. What is socially acceptable is not something "I" determined. You'll find that transvestism is listed as a psychological disorder by many, but I'm coming up empty finding doctors associating tattoos with any form of disorder (even though I conceded my brain was much already!).
