Because I love to debate ... with anyone, btw, my children were raised to present their side of an argument if they wanted something. They were not allowed to request something they wanted with a "just because I want it".

All three of them have children of their own ...some in their teens...and they are able to demonstrate to them how they dealt with peer pressure. None of them have ever smoked, done drugs or been in trouble with the law.

I believe teaching your children argue with reason and logic is one of the best lessons you can give them.
