What "Bush Tax Cuts"?

Why do I get the impression that, if Obama were to raise taxes now, it wouldn't be called "The Obama Tax Increases", but instead would be called "Obama's Repeal of the Bush Tax Cuts"?

It seems that, no matter how many times Obama affirms them by signing extensions to them (as he already has), they will never simply be known as "The long-term tax rates" or even The Obama Tax rates". Apparently they must be named after someone in a previous administration, who has had no control over them for more than three years.

And even if Obama raises taxes now, the title of that act would still refer back to the previous administration.

By that "logic", those tax cuts shouldn't even have been called the "Bush Tax Cuts" in the first place.

They would correctly be called "Bush's correction to the Clinton Tax Increases of 1993".

This is the same logic liberals uses when they write a budget (I know Democrats have not written a budget for over 3 years now) this is how they think

Zero based budgeting requires the strating point is what the budget was last year
If Democrats want a 10% increase over last years spending, and the heartless Republicans only allow the Democrats a 5% increase - Dems will rant to their allies in the liberal media Republicans cut their program by 5%

Now this makes sense to liberals, but it is devoid of truth and reality to the rest of us

Republicans have historically been every bit as stupid with the Congressional budget as Democrats. The only difference is what pet projects they (over)fund.

I be you could gather a group of liberal housewives together and they would manage to run a perfectly balanced budget just the same as conservative housewives could.

That is the great untold secret of the American electorate.

AMERICA IS MOSTLY A CONSERVATIVE COUNTRY.

The VAST majority of Americans would never go to their neighbor and lift money out of the neighbor's wallet, to pay for food for a homeless guy. They would spend their own money for it instead.

And they would never go from house to house in their neighborhood, examining all the child's toys, highchairs, bed blankets, etc., and work to force the neighbors to change them if those things didn't mee the guy's own personal standards of "safety".

And they certainly wouldn't command their neighbors to change their health-insurance policies and take up different (and frequently more expensive) ones if the crusading guy thought the neighbors somehow werenot being adequately protected; and force ALL neighbors to buy insurance even if the neighbors felt they didn't need it.

The neighbor next door would never do any of those things to you. Because he is fundamentally conservative, no matter who he is.

The fact that some of those same neighbors who personally would never to that to you, then turn around and vote for politicians who WILL do that to you, is one of the wierder facets of American life.

ConHog is right. A bunch of liberal housewives (that is, housewives who vote for liberal politcians) can probably do just as good a job balancing their own budgets, as a bunch of conservative housewives. Even though the politicians those liberal housewives voted for (on both sides of the aisle), enact deficit after deficit and run up debts into the trillions of dollars.

America is a fundamentally conservative country. The vast majority of people will live and let live, will not force others to do things "for their own good", respect the decisions their neighbors make, will help their neighbors when they need help, and will generally leave their fellow man alone instead of barging in and telling him what to do. These are all solid conservative traits.

Why some of them vote for the exact opposite in their politicians, is an enduring mystery. With no SENSIBLE explanation.

Gotta love it -- Once Bush left office, he was no longer responsible for anything that happened during his administration. Any problems Bush left for Obama (Iraq, out of control banks, increased spending) were now long attributable to Bush in any way.
Of course, when Congress screwed up (and they often do) in the Bush years, it was all the Dems fault. When Congress continued to screw up during the Obama years, it was Obama's fault.

We are still in 2 wars. We are deeper in debt than before, thanks to his stimulus and transparency has never been so cloudy.
