37 year old Michael Lusher slept through being shot in the head with a small caliber round. He awoke roughly 4 hours after the injury and went to the hospital when he realized he was bleeding.

That's the only thing I can think of. It did say he was "out on the town" so maybe he was passed out drunk.

Drunk as a skunk! With facial and scalp nerves numb, a smack from a piece of lead after you pass-out ain't gonna phase you.
