Been looking for another shotgun. Truth is, I'm always looking for another shotgun.

This time it's a 28 gauge. I don't have one yet, so this is a priority.

I favor over/unders, and am interested in a round action. I prefer case colors to other finishes, and though I think screw-in chokes are neat, they aren't necessary. I demand an appropriately scaled frame.

The closest thing I've found is this Rizzini (http://www.rizziniusa.com/round_body.htm):

I'm wondering if any of you know of another maker I might look into that doesn't nick me for 5 digits to get into what I want.

Look! I'm sure CSMC would make a 28 gauge for me. Here's (http://www.connecticutshotgun.com/guns/9110.htm) what the 20 gauge looks like:

Grateful Dead
"Bring Me My Shotgun"

Oh bring me my shotgun, bring me back some shells,
Why don’t you just bring me my shotgun,
Bring me back a pocket full of shells,
Well you know if I don’t get myself a little competition,
You know there’s gonna be some trouble ‘round here.

Well you know my mama told me, she said,
You gonna have bad luck, son, don’t care where you go,
So why don’t you bring me my shotgun.

Early in the morning when the sun gonna rise,
She lets her rolling go moonshine bright,
In the morning bring me my shotgun,
Well I can stand in the mist for a while,
But I can’t stand it for very long.

Can't help ya man, I haven't been in the shotgun market for years. I have a 12 and 16 ga that suit me fine. I do want a Glock though.

Heard of a 12, 16, 20 and 410 gage shotgun. Never a 28. Learn somethin' new every day.

The 28 gauge is the gauge VP Cheny prefers when shooting lawyers. :D

There have been 14 and 32 gauge shotguns as well--the 10 gauge is making a comeback in waterfowling because steel is the most affordable non-toxic load.

Aaah yes, the 10 gage. Missed that one. I've actually shot one. A real good goose gun. Really reaches out there with a 3 1/2 mag.

I think maybe I have heard of that 28 gage after all, but you've stumped me again with a 32.

My Grandma used to hunt dear with a 12 gage slugs.

The large shot used means fewer pellets--bigger gauge means more of those big pellets. Furthermore, lots of places are requiring non-toxic loads beyond the scope of waterfowling, so bigger gauges will likey be seen more as long a steel shot remains so much cheaper than the tungsten and bismuth alternatives.

I think maybe I have heard of that 28 gage after all, but you've stumped me again with a 32.The 14 and 32 were short lived, and out competed by the more popular gauges. Just like the 16 and 28 are barely limping along now.

My Grandma used to hunt dear with a 12 gage slugs. I'd like to get a continental rig-- .30-06 / 20 gauge. Do up birds and deer!

But that's the distant future; for now, I've got to find that 28.

Is this to be a shooter or for collection purposes? I own a number of shotguns and have a Beretta 28 gauge that I am particularly fond of . It is attractive enough nice wood and scrolling. Depending on the grade $2000 -$15000. Good luck on your purchase

Berettas are fine, but I'm not aware they produce one in a round-body configuration.

BTW: All guns are shooters IMO.

Same here....part of the enjoyment of owning them is using them. I would check into the Berettas. I swear that somewhere along the way I have seen a round body configuration....on the other hand maybe not. I will look too.
The Rizzini is a nice piece too.
