Sanford police marched a handcuffed George Zimmerman into police headquarters the night he shot and killed Trayvon Martin (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/topic/PEOCVC000188.topic), and a video shot by a security camera picked up no obvious sign of injury to the Neighborhood Watch volunteer.

Didn't you get onto Jim for cherry-picking? Yet here you are picking a quote out of an article, which could easily be explained by this quote from the same article:


He was tended at the scene by paramedics but told them he did not need to go to a hospital, police reported.

The video was pretty low-res; though I thought I saw a mark on the back of his head as he left the garage area. Perhaps the police took pictures at the scene; or the paramedics who treated him could testify to the extent of the injuries they witnessed. Either of which would be more telling than a low-res security cam video taken well after the incident.

If you watch the video, it is not exactly low res. It was very clear when shown on ABC News. Plus the EMTs report said Zimmerman has "very minor injuries."

I think the problem here might be the police department, which has refused to answer a lot of key questions. What other small town police department would hire a law firm and an image consultant?

A broken nose will only show redness, maybe a little swelling and "possibly" be misshapen. The rest of the effects of a broken nose don't show for days. A broken nose and bumps/scrapes to the head ARE minor injuries, and no one has ever stated otherwise. But having your head repeatedly slammed into the ground has the potential to get MUCH worse. But nobody ever claimed that Zimmerman needed a stretcher.

The police are very wise to get counsel as it's very clear that even politicians are already choosing sides. It makes sense for them to release as little information as possible and ensuring they perform all the due diligence they possibly can. But they should also be counseled, and perhaps be prepared for a lawsuit.

Uh yea-- its low resolution. I don't what you saw on ABC news, but the video I watched on their site was low res. Most all color surveillance cams are relatively low res, 480 tvl (though they bill it as high resolution); which may seem like a lot. However, Z's head is no more than 10%(more like 5%) of the viewable screen dimension; meaning his head definition is at most 48 lines. Of those 48 lines, the pertinent areas, say his nose or the back of his head, take up even less-- say one third to one quarter-- so the definition is ~10 to 12 lines of definition, AT MOST. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Resolution_illustration.png) Not sure what type of camera you use for family photos, but I assure you, if you had that level of definition, you'd be dissatisfied with the results.



Its called an ongoing investigation; it important to remember that if this goes to trial, you wouldn't want the jury pool tainted.
