Wasn't that long ago that they introduced a bill against scented candles and bath salts...now this. People are getting really whimpy and whiny these days.

Many women love wearing perfume (http://shine.yahoo.com/fashion/we-choose-fragrances-based-on-our-own-body-odor-2580028.html), but have you ever gotten a headache (http://shine.yahoo.com/fashion/bacon-scented-cologne-has-arrived-2472572.html) from someone who has sprayed on way too much of a scent you don't like (http://shine.yahoo.com/fashion/the-perfumes-and-fragrances-that-turn-men-ona-and-off-362568.html)? Back in 2008, Susan McBride, sued Detroit under the Americans with Disabilities Act, claiming a coworker's fragrance made it hard for her to breathe and do her job. (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/SIG=13uh57n01/EXP=1328032045/**http%3A//detnews.com/article/20100314/METRO/3140308/Detroit-city-employees-banned-from-wearing-strong-scents) She was eventually awarded $100,000, and the city warned workers to avoid using scented products like perfume, cologne, deodorant, lotion, and aftershave. Now New Hampshire is looking to do the same.

State representative Michele Peckham is sponsoring House Bill 1444 which hopes to ban state employees who work with the public from wearing perfume (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/SIG=143viccm1/EXP=1328153148/**http%3A//www.allure.com/beauty-trends/blogs/daily-beauty-reporter/2012/01/should-perfume-be-banned-in-public.html). Apparently a constituent with extreme allergies approached Peckham with the proposal. "It may seem silly, but it's a health issue," Peckham told the Union Leader (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/SIG=12gk6i2ok/EXP=1328153148/**http%3A//www.unionleader.com/article/20120102/NEWS06/701029971). "Many people have violent reactions to strong scents."

I've run across a few fragrant individuals in my time. And yeah, I deserve $100,000 or more for having to deal with it. This is the 21st century after all.

We have a client who literally sits in his car and puts his cologne on right before he comes in ... you can taste it for the entire day .. makes several people ill. We asked him to wait until he leaves to spritz himself - didn't ban him.

Some certainly act that way. I know a couple people. that if they smell even the slightest waft of vanilla or other scented lotions at work...they must bitch about it for hours. It totally ruins their day. Heck... even the lemon or orange cleaning supplies set them off. When did everyone get so sensitive and whiny that even scented products of any kind (and strength) need to be banned from the public places?

New Hampshire, the "Live Free or Die" state. :laugh2: My, how times have changed.
Perhaps it is the influx of Massholes having an effect...

I know the type. I worked with a woman who was apparently a walking allergy about to kick in every day of her life. She was trying to get our employer to rip out the new carpeting, because the carpet glue bothered her sensitive nasal passages. She got them to order her a special chair, and even made her husband cut the wood for her wooden homemade Christmas decorations, because she claimed the wood shavings affected her breathing.

Lawd, I couldn't tolerate a high maintenance bitch, but if I were going to , she would have to be super model hot and super model rich, and even then I'd get tired of it fast.

Patchouli should be banned. Period.

I'm pretty tolerant of things in "public", but it's so disgustingly strong, the only way to get away from it is to physically leave the building.

Despite my showing her the warnings on the label not to, my wife likes to mix cleaning chemicals, claiming it cleans better and faster. I insist she wears my respirator...So if it were my wife, I would have given her a dust mask. But then again, maybe her husband appreciates the alone time.

Come to think of it, that's what I'd do if someone was in the habit of wearing a bunch of perfume/cologne-- I'd just put on a gas mask. Not so subtle, but maybe, hopefully, they'd get the point.

I love certain scented lotions and things...but not really the strong perfumy stuff. I like scents that are fruity or mild. Vanilla,Apple,Pear,Coconut etc..usually body sprays.

I'm not familiar with the scent you mention...sounds like a good thing I'm not. I did have a friend who used to practically bathe in an Obsession knock off perfume. Burned my eyes and throat. Never complained about it...did always suggest we meet up for drinks/lunch at places that had outdoor patios though.
