Why -- because Romney is the only GOP candidate that has a chance to beat Obama.
I would be interested to hear more of your whys or why nots.

Under my ABO criterion, Romney gets a Yes.

Romney is a no for me.
He flip flops too much. Reminds me of Bill Clinton and his approval rating fetish.
Romneycare/Obamacare don't have enough differences for me to buy his discussion.
I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, but he just oozes that whole "slick politician" thing. I don't think I can trust him to do the right thing or even do what he believes is the right thing.

Paulians will say no to everyone but Ron Paul- and be sick when Socialist Obama is re-elected.

This "Paulian" will explain why the other candidates have not earned my support. But, I will be sick when Obama gets re-elected especially if he ties it up with Mrs. Clinton.
Paulians will say no to everyone but Ron Paul- and be sick when Socialist Obama is re-elected.
And Romnians will say no to anyone but Mitt - and be sick when they realize they've voted for Obama 2.0..

I'm not excited about Romney, or any of the other candidates for that matter, but if he gets the nomination I will vote for him.
I think I'm in the same boat as many others in that we just don't want Obama to get re-elected which is really sad.

Actually, there are a huge number of us who aren't Romnians, but will vote for him nonetheless. But are you actually claiming that Romney supporters have the cult-like attitudes of the Paulians?

Don't you consider yourself as a conservative? If so, why would you ever consider voting for Romney?

Any Conservative who would risk letting Obama stay for 4 more years to prove a point, isn't much of a Conservative, imo. As I've said, ABO.

I think Romney is a good choice right now for the country, I do believe he has the know how to get us out of the financial mess that we're in.
I disagree with him on immigration, because he's pro-amnesty and while I'm not jumping up and down in excitement I will be happy to vote for him.
Someone needs to get ahold of the purse strings and get this country out of debt and our unemployment rate back down. With gas back up to 3.69 (around here) any recovery is going to be stopped dead. Bambam has shown that he clearly is over his head.

And you won't see that even a moderate (which Romney claims he isn't) is world's better than Obama.

"True conservatives" have two choices this year: They can vote for a "true conservative" and feel good about their choice. Or they can vote for Romney and have a chance to beat Obama.

There are no true conservatives anymore than there are true liberals. If you are simply voting against something then you are wrong. Win or lose, be sure you are voting for something.

I think Romney will be a good nominee. Conservatives take criticism as a demand they betray their beliefs. In a marketing sense, conservatives need to become more relevant to more groups of people. For example NYC's new GOP Congressman, Bob Turner is fighting to lower bridge tolls into Queens and Brooklyn. Conservatives need to survey the Latino community to find an immigration policy that preserves our nation but doesn't anger those voters. Bob Turner's success can be replicated in MA-4 with Sean Bielat. Romney needs to be careful with his Pete Wilson rhetoric.
The idiots over at RedState saying stupid things like "people in the Northeast don't matter" and "I wouldn't spit on Ron Paul if he was on fire" is a sure path to irrelevance. In spite of Ron Paul being for a dangerous foreign policy, it would be wise to market to his supporters.

Can you give us an in-depth reason behind that thought? Why you believe this to be the case?

Romney gets a yes, but he will not win against Obama.Obama won on the college vote and the independent vote last election. Now fast forward 4 years and "most" of those pie-in -the-sky college kids DON'T have jobs or are working for far less than they should be. Who do YOU think those voters are going to vote for, the same moron that put them in that spot?? The independents voted for a change well they got a hell fo a change, 15 trillion debt and counting, 8.5% unemployment (joke more like 17%), 45% unemployment for young people between the ages of 16-29. That my friend is a huge gap in working age persons actually working.. You will never have the "oh my god it the first black man to be president" ever again. that was a one time historical event, so the novelty has worn off. Obama also took 95% of the black vote that turned out in mass like it has never done before, most blacks are worse off today than 4 years ago with I believe a 20% unemployment, they didn't exactly get what they voted for now did they.
With the morons track record he would be lucky to get reelected, if he does I wash my hands of the whole voting process because its got to be a joke....

My analysis on your points:
SPOT ON:
The Independent vote that wanted a change. Although I am a conservative voter, I fell into this category and will not make the same mistake. I doubt I am the only one
The first black president novelty is definitely gone and will be a factor
UNSURE:
I am not sure about the college vote. Those college kids are probably "occupiers" today and may side with Obama just because they don't like Republican tax policy with respect to the rich and their perceived proximity to Wall Street and big corporations.
DEAD WRONG:
If Marion Barry is any indication, I think Obama will get 95% of the black vote regardless of the hell hole they find themselves in.

I think Obama won because enough people were expecting another Great Depression and wanted more food stamps, cash assistance and housing assistance. Now that people are not seeing a 30% unemployment rate and are tired of being nonproductive they are ready to end the experiment called Obama. Obama couldn't get us to a 30% unemployment rate, but it wasn't for lack of trying.

Your last point is valid, what I was refering to in my post was that MORE blacks voted in the last election than any previous. So he can get 95% because most blacks do vote Dem, so that is nothing new, however I do not think you will have the numbers that were there 4 years ago.. so those that vote will vote for him but you wont have neer the numbers voting this time..

I must respectfully disagree with the assessment that Romney will be a good nominee. I think that the best he can aspire to is Obama-lite. I say that because it is too easy to make a random list of Obamanisms and Romneyisms that are essentially the same.
I agree with the marketing analogy in spite of my personal preference of simply telling it like it is and hoping you will understand it. The people who discount the voters of any state and refuse to spit are simply idiots. The question to ask is if they are useful idiots or idiots with influence. In the former you use them in the latter you must court them. It sucks, but it is reality.
Politics itself is why so many people become apathetic. It is a known corrupting process and most people don't want to deal with it because they see it as pointless. This lowers the voting pool into two camps of people who actually care and/or understand the process. Unfortunately, in those two camps the ones wanting a big government that will care for them from cradle to grave outnumber the others.
