Tis the season for the usual gang of idiots to keep attacking Christmas

Every Christmas for the past 60 years, Nativity scenes have dominated two blocks of a park on bluffs overlooking the ocean in Santa Monica, California.

The 14 scenes depicting Jesus Christ's birth have long been a popular attraction among area residents and tourists to the southern California city.

This year, however, atheists have taken over most of the two-block stretch, nearly shutting out and angering a group of churches who contend the atheists have organized against the Christians and gamed a city lottery process allocating the holiday exhibit space.

In response, a leader of the atheist group says he's just looking for evenhanded treatment to present his beliefs in a public space -- and goes so far as to say that the city shouldn't even be allowing any religious or even atheist expression in the park.

That's why he and his group have put nothing on half of the park exhibit spaces that they've secured from the city this year.

The atheists are declaring the politically left-leaning seaside town of Santa Monica as their latest battleground in a national movement to assert their rights.

"I'm part of a growing movement in America of atheists standing up for their rights. It's a very exciting time for us that we're having more of an impact in our society," said Damon Vix, the organizer of the atheist group.

"I'm a civil rights activist, and atheists have been discriminated against for as long as I've been an atheist -- since high school," added Vix, 43, a freelance prop maker who lives in Burbank, California.

But Hunter Jameson, the Nativity scene committee chairman representing 14 Santa Monica groups that are mostly churches, said the church members are now planning to petition the city in 2012 to change the process so that creches would be better represented on the park bluffs adjacent to downtown Santa Monica.

"There's a very militant atheist movement that's trying to drive out vestiges of the truth. They're trying to deny the truth that this nation is founded on Christian principles," Jameson said.

"These people, atheists, a number of them, like Mr. Vix, are bound and determined to drive away from any public place any manifestation that Americans are God-loving people," Jameson added. "This is not fair, this is not just."

AS soon as someone says "Im just..." you know the rest is a blatant out and out lie.

He claims he is trying to secure his rights.....
BUT in actuality, he is ONLY trying to deny other peoples rights.

For some reason this is now the new trend for the self centered. If we don't like something...we must get rid of it. Doesn't matter if someone else might not want us to...WE are the authority of what is important and must ruin things for everyone else.

Is he actually trying to do that, or is he another of the idiots who thinks that freedom OF religion means freedom FROM religion? I mean either way he's an idiot , and obviously either way they are striving to block others from their own rights, I'm just trying to figure out if he's just stupid and doesn't understand what the COTUS actually says or if he's actually aware that he is trying to limit the rights of others and therefor isn't stupid, just an asshole.

You know what cracks me up the most about it? The VERY ones who are screaming the loudest that we MUST accept homosexuality as normal are the very least willing to accept Christianity. Just goes to show that people only care about THEIR rights.

Yes, and either the old saying is true...birds of a feather flock together, and people have just all turned into self centered (it's all about me) nit wits and don't mind. Or we as a society have just gotten used to catering to the loudest and most annoying idiots with a complaint. Cuz...most times it seems everyone just caves in to these type people.

wham bam right on the head. We as humans like to ridicule, and make fun of people. We all do it, anyone who says they haven't participated and enjoyed doing such things is a liar, it's that simple. Christians are the last group it is socially acceptable to do so towards do. Can't make fun of blacks, can't ridicule the fat, don't mock the retarded, hey don't talk about the gays, you're an Islamaphobe, oh Christians, yes bash away.

It's that simple. I truly believe that if we did away with all the stupid anti discrimination laws and the hate law bullshit, you would see the exact same amount of hate you see now, the only difference is Christians wouldn't be the main target. Either that or Christians need a better lobbyist in DC to demand that our rights be protected.

Awhile back I asked why christians don't respond to anti-christian "friends" who are trashing their religion. I was told basically that christians are to expect this and to just move on. I think that while being complacent...we also send the message that it is okay to walk all over our beliefs because we wont fight for them. And most won't I have noticed.

I have also noticed...that while christians will honor their "friends" right to trash christianity...the "friends" don't show the same respect back and not make nasty comments....ever. So, I guess we will always see more of the same.

"Turn the other cheek" and all that rot.

Is that being "Christ-like" and meek or not standing up for yourself? Didn't Christ Himself make a mess of the temple to show his disgust for the actions of the heathens?

self centered indeed. I've always had this issue with people who claim to be liberal, but think they know whats best for others. If you're liberal, shouldn't you be for others doing a wide variety of activities?

Not to mention Jesus (not christ) said he did not come to unite, but to divide....
The "me" generational thinking is rampant throughout our society.
The only ones worse are the islamic fundamentals who want total control over everyone.

I think that was directed specifically at the corrupt money changers. Interesting factoid, the word bankrupt stems from these money changers who used a bancus, or table, an actual board which determined the loan and exchange rates; if found to be corrupt or otherwise unable to continue lending, the board would be symbolically broken, or bancus ruptus. In Deut 15:1-2, it states that an outstanding debt should be cancelled if unpaid after 7 years. Not so coincidentally, a 7 -yr term for bankruptcies is Federal Law.

A frind of the GF is a gay and VERY liberal. He always voted Dem and knows the liberal talking points perfectly

One day he commented on the "hate" that is being shown toward Obama. I asked him what he ment. He went on a LONG dislong of the opposition to Obamacare, tax increases, judges, and pretty much anything Obama wanted

I pointed out that Obama had 60 seats in the enate and a 30 plus advantage in the House; therefore it was Dems ho were blocking anything from passing since the R's do not have the votes

Well, he lost it. He ranted how they were not "real" Dems, and how the racists want Obama to fail like Limbaugh said.

I the said based on what Obama wants, I want him to fail as well. His failure will be good for America

Oh boy, he started YELLING how I am a hate filled racist. At that point my GF stepped in, stopped the conversation, she cut his air, he paid, and left

I looked at my GF and asked who was the guy full of hate and rage in the discussion. She rolled her eyes and said "That is Steve - you just can't talk politics with him"

And of course when talking about "hate" they will totally disregard all the venom thrown at GWB, the military (see Jessica Lynch for an example) for eight years....prior to Obama even being in the picture. And just look at the crap they throw at Sarah Palin and her kids. I don't ever want to hear them whine about "hate".

But that is "different" Shadow. Liberals do show "hate" - the show "passion". Liberals must stand up to those who oppose the "prgressive" agenda any way they can. The ends justify the means

Then they should understand the concept when it's thrown back in their face. They just don't like it when others have the same right to be an ass that they do, because they sure do cry foul enough.
