Muslims Condemn Terrorist Attacks

This page focuses on condemnations of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and other terrorist incidents since then as well as of terrorism in general. It is not a complete listing of all condemnations written or spoken by Muslims but is intended to provide a representative sample.

It has often been claimed in the media that Muslims are "silent" and do not condemn terrorism. This page is intended to refute that claim. Muslims have not been silent. Not even close. See also How American Muslims Really Responded to September 11 (http://www.mediamonitors.net/riadabdelkarim3.html) for more information about the Muslim response to 9/11. And another listing is at Statements Against Terror (http://www.unc.edu/~kurzman/terror.htm). Also Muslim Voices Against Terrorism (http://www.theamericanmuslim.org/2005jul_comments.php?id=733_0_39_60_C). You could have a list of thousands of muslims against terrorism, and someone else could pop along with a list that shows thousand supporting it, what has been proved? Nothing.

All you need to know is 'is there a logical pathway between being a muslim and being a terrorist' and there clearly is. While that is certainly not unique to islam it does tend to fester more because of the notion of the implementation of sharia law.

There is no clear cut path to becoming a scholar of Islam, There are so many sects that there is no cohesive understanding that EVERYONE is taught the same. It is left up to the interpretation of the scholar who "studied" the Koran, With no direct guidance from a organized religious standpoint your going to have this problem..

It proves that there are Muslims against terrorists and terrorism which is the point to some here. Being more of a logical pathway for Muslims is something that they must address, and sometimes us militarily unfortunately, but it doesn't take away from the stance of those opposed.

Abso, certainly a LOT more of a list than I thought you would supply. But I still really don't see the leaders you have listed as leaders of state. Sure, they're not ordinary citizens, but Islam needs it's leaders of state to stand up and speak out about terrorism and abuse - similar to what GWB has done and many other American Presidents. And quite frankly, a list of citizens LOOKS nice, but all in all it would make up a bunch of people to fit into a small auditorium, not the billions Islam is made up of. But I still applaud you for borrowing the list from someone else. My problem from the get go, if you look back, is that LEADERS are not speaking out against the rampant terrorism and rampant abuse towards women. And quite frankly again, I don't see the leaders I had imagined, and I don't see anything at all speaking out against the abuse of women.

More importantly, why do you think nothing is being accomplished towards slowing down terrorism and abuse towards women? The connect needs to be by those condemning it and looking to make a change - and those that wish to further these acts. The stronger and more popular the people speaking out and the further it will be heard.

So yes, again, I applaud you. That's a longer borrowed list than I had thought. I admit I was wrong in some aspects, and it appears I am right about a few others. But none of that changes that terrorism has skyrocketed since 9/11 and women are abused at an alarming rate in almost every Islamic country - regardless of someone's impressive list. But I always spoke out about leaders, and we can cut out the citizens if you like, as I have ALWAYS stated that not all muslims were like that. So break it down to the list of leaders trying to make change within their countries and jurisdictions. Not such an impressive list after all. No offense to others...

If I made a list of Americans speaking out against terrorism, and included scholars and ordinary Americans, it would be about 65,000,000 pages long here on DP.

first, i still have alot of links, but i think after this page, i don't need to post more links.

about the leaders, what i posted came from the leaders of the Islamic religion around the world, in egypt, saudia, pakistan, USA and every other place.

i have more and more links, if you wish for more just tell me.

all i want to say is that we all are humans, we all share the hatred for evil, and killing innocents is the most evil of all.

if some misguided radical muslims thinks that killing innocents is okay, then we should fight them together, but we shall not hate each other.

Abso, there is a HUGE difference between the "leader" of one of the billion "religious organizations" in Islam - and a STATE LEADER. State leaders would be presidents, prime ministers, people that have control and lead countries. Like I said, that list is fantastic, but it all starts at the top.

We have a terror attack in the USA and it's still on the nightly news and being condemned by our leaders 10 years later. There are terror attacks in Islam on a daily basis and we're having a hard time seeing condemnation from the LEADERS. That's where it needs to start.

And yes, there are WAY MORE peaceful muslims than non-peaceful - but it's STILL a monstrous problem in every Islamic nation and I don't see the leaders trying to work with other leaders to stamp out the problem. The same goes for abuse of women. Always an excuse when you talk to muslims - but not many words from the leaders and I don't see a whole lot being done by official government people trying to change things. I think it's great that you can find a handful of clerics and other religious guys that speak out - but that WILL NOT stop the problem. It's got to start at the top and work its way down.

Okay jim, i will do it by your way, but i hope that you will not find another excuse after this, because this list is something i will have to do myself, and i don't like actually searching for links instead of easily copying them.

i will try to post the new list soon.

btw the reaosn why you don't see anything about muslim leaders denouncing terror is because you never looked for it, have you ever searched for "Muslims Denouncing terror".

i think you spent most of your time searching for muslim terrorists instead of searching to read about muslims who are against terrorism.

An excuse? Dude, there's a huge difference between a small town cleric speaking out against terrorism and that of a president, king or prime minister of a country. If you can't see that difference, and call it an excuse, there's no point in trying to explain "it starts at the top" to you.

And I've always stated LEADERS, so don't tell me what I have or haven't searched for. I know there are billions of peaceful muslims, always stated that. I know many citizens and religious muslims condemned acts, always stated that. I've said from day one - why don't we see the leaders denouncing terrorism and seeing them trying to get together with other countries to eradicate terrorism. To date, I still haven't seen an answer to that question, but I suppose it's YOU who will have yet another excuse. You ignore these questions, you ignore millions of requests to discuss abuse of women in Egypt, when YOU said it wasn't a problem. Fuck, 80% of all the women being beat there sure as shit IS a problem, and your failure to recognize this shows what many of us suspect about too, too many muslims. Either "i don't do that" - or turn a blind eye.

Back to Islamic leaders, which you really supplied jack shit in that department - you care to gather a list of heads of states or official government officials consistently speaking out against terrorism? Fuckin A again, there are TERROR ATTACKS EVERY DAMNED DAY!! It should be on the front cover of every single muslim newspaper in the entire world, and ALL musolims, STARTING FROM THE TOP, condemning these acts and working DAILY towards a solution.
