President Obama drew a sharp political and ideological battle line with his Republican and conservative critics Monday morning by unveiling a plan for an additional $3 trillion of deficit reduction (http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/Articles/2011/09/19/Obama-Deficit-Plan-Cuts-Medicare-Raises-Taxes.aspx) over the coming decade that would include both spending cuts and tax increases. And he vowed to veto any legislation that seeks to cut the deficit through spending reductions alone.

So even if the GOP gave him a bill that reduced the deficit- even eliminated it- by reducing military spending and corporate subsides for the Bachmann family farm [I was going to make a longer list, but neither I nor Google could think of anything else Obama's ever proposed cutting], he'd say 'nay'- no reducing our bloated military spending unless he gets his tax cuts?
So... it's not really about the deficit at all, is it Mr President? The economic welfare is simply your hostage and the one and only thing you want is higher taxes- not as a way to address the deficit (or you wouldn't reject other solutions out of hand), but simply because you want higher taxes on the rich. Good to know you have your priorities- and America's interest at heat.
I look forward to the GOP and TRN making him choke on this.
