Muslim civilisation stretched from southern Spain as far as China. From the 7th century onwards, scholars of many faiths built on the ancient knowledge of the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, making breakthroughs that paved the way for the Renaissance.
The discoveries made by men and women in Muslim civilisation have left their mark on the way we live today. 1001 Inventions uncovers a thousand years of science and technology that has a huge but hidden impact on the modern world.

I have always said Islam is a religion that will blow you away
In praise of Islamic civilization
Extract from a speech by Carly Fiorina, CEO of Hewlett-Packard.
There was once a civilization that was the greatest in the world.
It was able to create a continental super-state that stretched from ocean to ocean, and from northern climes to tropics and deserts. Within its dominion lived hundreds of millions of people, of different creeds and ethnic origins.
One of its languages became the universal language of much of the world, the bridge between the peoples of a hundred lands. Its armies were made up of people of many nationalities, and its military protection allowed a degree of peace and prosperity that had never been known. The reach of this civilization’s commerce extended from Latin America to China, and everywhere in between.
And this civilization was driven more than anything, by invention. Its architects designed buildings that defied gravity. Its mathematicians created the algebra and algorithms that would enable the building of computers, and the creation of encryption. Its doctors examined the human body, and found new cures for disease. Its astronomers looked into the heavens, named the stars, and paved the way for space travel and exploration.

Maybe someone can design a more comfortable bomb vest for the next lovable Muslim who takes a walk thru a park, or downtown street markets

The scholars of many faiths never included islam. The second bold part says men and women. Women were and are nothing more than chattel in islam. To invent things takes understanding and education, self taught or schooled. The whole thing is just pc garbage to make the ignorant arabs look good. Isn't that NASA's new mission?
The only thing islam invented was islam, a means to subjugate and conquer. How's that sharia law working for you there abso?

Yes indeed. In ancient times The Arabs of course were skilled in many disciplines and even their women were highly educated. Then along came Islam which sent the Middle East spiraling back into the Middle Ages.

This is someone who knows absolutely nothing about what he's talking about. Just cause he's a CEO doesn't mean he has knowledge of historical facts. Another pc propaganda speech. All those building designers he talks about were Jewish and Christian. Muslim doctors, engineers, educators, and such are new to islamic countries. The people have been purposely kept backward in order to control them.

Here is the first paragraph of the first entry I found in your list of Muslim "scientists"
Attributions to Calid
It is contested whether the attributions to Khalid ibn Yazid of alchemical writing are justified.[6][Notes 2] A popular legend has him consulting a Byzantine monk Marianos (Morienus the Greek).[Notes 3] The Liber de compositione alchimiae, which was the first alchemical work translated from Arabic to Latin (by Robert of Chester in 1144)[7] was purportedly an epistle of Marianos to Khalid.
Another traditional attribution is of the Liber Trium Verborum.[Notes 4] Forms as Calid filius Ysidri[Notes 5] attempt to distinguish ibn Yazid from others named Calid. Calid filius Hahmil certainly intends ibn Umail. There is a Calid filius Jaici mentioned by Jean-Jacques Manget, who includes an attributed Liber Secretorum Artis in his 1702 compilation Bibliotheca Curiosa Chemica.
He plagarized the work of another. LOL Do I need to read further down the list?
On second thought, I do suppose he should be given some credit for being able to read. That's quite the accomplishment in the Muslim world. He probably ended up being stoned to death for it.

As the OP pointed out, 100% conquering and subjugation, after considerable slaughter. Thanks for nothing.
One of its languages became the universal language of much of the world,
Yep... once a foreign people who did NOT follow Islam finally got hold of it. A people who did NOT ruthlessly crush and subjugate its subjects, but actually originated a creed that encouraged individual freedom, personal responsibility, and respect... later called "the Rights of Englishmen".
Its armies were made up of people of many nationalities,
...or else!
and its military protection allowed a degree of peace and prosperity that had never been known.
...by treating its internal enemies (aka citizens) as it treated the external ones: by harsh laws and harsher punishments. Once the people who disagree with you are all DEAD, there is indeed no more conflict.
The reach of this civilization’s commerce extended from Latin America to China, and everywhere in between.
Again, often whether they liked it or not. "Eminent domain" wasn't just a quaint phrase back then, it was a literal fact. It was "trade", sort of... but if you didn't trade OUR way, you might wind up enslaved or dead.
Its architects designed buildings that defied gravity.
Name one.
Its mathematicians created the algebra and algorithms
Nice try... but these concepts were invented in the far East, and brought back by the abovementioned "traders".
Its astronomers looked into the heavens, named the stars,
Yes, they did indeed. And most of the names they gave, actually differed from the names given centuries before to the same stars by civilizations that had existed for a thousand years before Mohammed raped his first 12-year-old. Kudoes!
and paved the way for space travel and exploration.
I once wrote my name in a square of wet cement in a sidewalk. At age 7. Did I "pave the way" for the interstate freeway system?
It's hard to find a civilization (and I use the word advisedly) that has co-opted so many lies after actually accomplished so little beyond oppression, death, and destruction, to try to justify their existence. Most people who have accomplished nothing, merely say nothing.
I commend that thought to you and your brethern.
Many of today's Arabic peoples are very nice folks, and would never dream of doing some of the things their ancestors did. They are, in fact, civilized, and deserve to take their places among the rest of the civilized world. These days, it's mostly their leaders who retain the barbaric attitudes and desires for which their ancestral leaders are (justly) reviled. It's too bad the truly decent people among them have been unable to get rid of the animals who have kept them in such a primitive state - most of the Arabic people do not deserve the poverty and misery they have.
P.S. I've always enjoyed the stories about flying carpets, and wished I had one. Thank you for them, false though they were. They were fun.

Thee guy's a retard.
The Jews used the first car bombs in the region and started the Car Bomb War. The car bomb was actually an American invention, if anything, and it was perfected by the IRA.
http://www.amazon.com/Car-Bomb-Robert-Baer/dp/B003Z8ZC8E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1314816954&sr=8-3
Jews were taught in their youth to kill unbelievers for 2000+ years before Islam was even founded.
As for 9/11, even if you buy the official story (you know, the one where Building 7 never existed), where's his rant about Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Dresden, the Tokyo firebombings...?
If Palestine didn't exist until after Israel was founded, how the hell did the Palestinian Mandate exist before the Jews declared independence?
Since he's been demonstrably wrong on every single point thus far, I'll not waste time listening to the rest of his diatribe.
The only thing islam invented was islam

That's a nice dance. Are you prepared to take back your assertion that our military is all idiots for not demanding that Bush first send his kids if Iraq and Afghanistan are such good ideas?
