Most people have probably seen the so-called "National Debt Clock" at http://www.usdebtclock.org/ . It's not kept by the government, but by some private group. However, it's been fairly accurate, most of the time.
This is a good time to make an interesting comparison. We've been sitting at or near the National Debt Ceiling for several months now, and the "Debt Subject to the Limit" clock is now stopped, though actual government figures show it decreasing very slowly.
But the overall "National Debt" clock, is still slowly increasing. It does not yet reflect the fact that President Obama just signed (ten minutes ago) the new National Debt Ceiling. The lowest six digits are the only ones that change at a visible rate, for now. The "hundred-thousands" digit changes maybe every three seconds. And the "millions" digit changes at one-tenth that rate, of course, maybe every 20 or 30 seconds.
Look at it now (may be the last chance you get to see such a slow change)... and then look at it, say, tomorrow. Or next week.
