From the article:

"This poll was conducted among a random sample of 810 adults nationwide, interviewed by telephone July 15-17, 2011. The error due to sampling for results based on the entire sample could be plus or minus four percentage points. The error for subgroups is higher. This poll release conforms to the Standards of Disclosure of the National Council on Public Polls."

So they took a poll of 810 people and then extrapolated the results to 300 mil +. I wonder what the demographics of the random 810 people were? Speculating here, but given that school is out for the summer (teachers and students?) plus the usual no working, lazy "victims of society" added to the stay at home spouse, I am betting that most of the respondents were libs. Hmm, the poll was conducted by CBS for CBS. No way they could have skewed the results. I can't help but notice that Gabby forgot to mention that Obama didn't do so well in this poll either.


All in all, I would have to say that this poll is about as useless as used toilet paper.

to be fair, there hasn't been a budget for a lot longer than that.

The US spends more than they take in. It's a problem the gov. needs to take care of instead of continually sweeping it under the rug and then blaiming the next administration.

I agree, which is why the gov. needs to ballance the budget and stop screwing around with political posturing. They seem to think the American public are a bunch of idiots.

Every household out there has had to trim their spending in order to get out of debt at some point or other. The US spends to much and doesn't have enought coming in. Taxing people more isn't the answer, we have to CUT SPENDING.

I hope the republicans stick to their guns.

We know what happens if the Boehner bill fails in the House. There is no alternative plan. We suffer whatever shock to the U.S. and world economies that will follow a default. The president will go to the country, claiming the Republicans endangered the country’s economy and global standing. But what happens if the House passes the Boehner bill?

2. The House would have done its job without violating the core promises the speaker made: more spending cuts than dollars increased in the debt ceiling. And no tax hikes.

At some level you wonder why this is even controversial in Republican ranks. Perhaps with time for consideration the vast majority of the lawmakers on both sides of the aisle will realize this is not just the only game in town but a very decent one.

Ok I guess what I was trying to say was that this isn't the first president to over spend. Both republican and democrate presidents are guilty of spending WAY to much. Neither side has been overly concerned with cutting spending, until now.
