View Full Version : It was inevitable: Obama establishes "Ministry of Truth" in White House

With the Obama White House rapidly losing the Mainstream Media as a majority shareholder and exclusive propaganda arm, it was inevitable that they would try to set up their own wholly-owned branch where they can keep an eye on what goes out and what is said.

1984 approaches, somewhat later that Orwell predicted, but with no less accuracy.

The author mentions that she isn't sure if this is an attempt to limit free speech. It is nothing of the kind. It is a fond rememberance of the "good old days" where liberal politicians would give their pronouncements of "the way it is", and ALL broadcasters would faithfully repeat them as instructed. Obama, having lost his propaganda department, has merely set up one office, with one guy, to do what the entire media used to do for the Democrats.

It's kind of like the captain of the Titanic, feeling the ship settling under him, detailing one guy and handing him one bucket, and telling him to start bailing.

WH Hires "Negative Story" Squasher

Welcome to the latest use of taxpayer dollars to shove Obama propaganda down your throat, on your dime. The White House has moved a staffer from the White House New Media Department into a position of "rapid media response," with a goal of squashing, or cleaning up negative stories about President Obama on the internet.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/23/white-house-online-rapid-response_n_865652.html

The Obama administration has created and staffed a new position tucked inside their communications shop for helping coordinate rapid response to unfavorable stories and fostering and improving relations with the progressive online community.

"This week, Jesse Lee will move from the new media department into a role in the communications department as Director of Progressive Media & Online Response," read an internal memo from Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer, provided to The Huffington Post. "For the last two years, Jesse has often worn two hats working in new media and serving as the White House's liaison with the progressive media and online community. Starting this week, Jesse will take on the second role full time working on outreach, strategy and response."

The post is a new one for this White House. Rapid response has been the purview of the Democratic National Committee (and will continue to be). Lee's hire, however, suggests that a portion of it will now be handled from within the administration. It also signals that the White House will be adopting a more aggressive engagement in the online world in the months ahead.

With Obama's record during his first term, Lee has his work cut out for him. I'm not sure if this move by the White House is an attempt to limit free speech or is just whining. You make the call.

Gee if the "Ministry of Truth" had been around during the Clinton years do you think the story about a high ranking government official and an intern would have made the news?

and here is a perfect story the "Ministry of Truth" would have approved. It is as phony as a $4 bill

CBS's Lesley Stahl played up how Al Sharpton apparently "has gone through something of a metamorphosis" as she spotlighted the "street-protest agitator...now trusted White House adviser" on Sunday's 60 Minutes. Despite pressing Sharpton for his refusal to apologize for the Tawana Brawley hoax, Stahl gushed, "Take a look at Reverend Al...stately in his tailored suits, commanding a national stage."

The journalist front-loaded her superlatives about the liberal flamethrower during her 12-and-a-half minute report in the bottom half of the 8 pm Eastern hour, emphasizing how Sharpton has supposedly become a new man. She also set the tone of the entire segment of choosing to use non-ideological labels to describe her subject, only hinting at his left-of-center politics:

STAHL: Say 'Al Sharpton' and most people probably think loudmouth activist and provocateur. Well, that certainly was his image in the '80s and '90s. Well, the Reverend Al has gone through something of a metamorphosis. Today, he's downright tame, so much that he's made his way into the establishment. It's been quite a trajectory: from street-protest agitator to candidate for president in 2004, to now, a trusted White House adviser, who's become the President's go-to black leader, campaigning around the country for President Obama and his agenda. Today, Reverend Sharpton looks and sounds like a totally different person.

Despite a firm, yet vague acknowledgment of the activist's past as being "hot-headed in his jogging suits, larger than life in every way, spreading hate and dividing the city," Stahl quickly fast-forwarded past that moments later by using her "stately" and "commanding" labels. She also punctuated Sharpton's close work with President Obama:

STAHL: ...Take a look at Reverend Al today after a meeting with the President: eighty-three pounds slimmer, stately in his tailored suits, commanding a national stage.

I wonder if this guy is also in charge of digging up dirt on potential opponents, as they are supposedly doing with a man who has repeatedly stated he won't be running. I know this is fairly common in politics, but it's still a damn long way till elections and the shit Obama administration should be paying attention to the economy, jobs, gas and a lengthy list of other things that are currently harming America.

Obama digging up dirt on potential opponent Chris Christie

President Obama's re-election campaign is trying to dig up dirt in the Garden State.

Despite New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's repeated pronouncements that he will not seek the GOP presidential nomination, Obama operatives are compiling a dossier of what they call "opposition research" -- material that could be used to damage Christie if he changes his mind, The Post has learned.

The Obama campaign is trying to keep its efforts from public view, concerned they would only elevate Christie's already impressive standing within the Republican Party, sources said.
