View Full Version : Hate Crimes Are Stupid

Seriously, has anybody thought of the implications of the new hate crimes bill. If somebody mugs a lady in a wheelchair, should it matter whether he did it because she's an easy target or because he thinks disabled people are leeches? If somebody robs a Jewish owned store, should it matter that he thought the store looked nice and must have money or if he thought Jews got their money by cheating Christians? Hate crimes laws punish thoughts and opinions, which are supposed to be protected in this country. Let's also not forget the fact that these laws are never used to prosecute those who commit 'hate crimes' against those in the majority. It's hypocracy at its worst.

It's the only way the government can eventually outlaw Christianity, Hobbit. It's going to get worse before it gets better.

Using hypocrisy is a way for special interest groups to ursurp powers from others while attempting to appear legitimate and caring.

Hate crimes are stupid. They're a product of P.C. run amok, which is a liberal by product.
Hate crime laws are heaping a law on top of a law when there is no need. It's almost double jeopardy, trying someone twice for the same crime, which is ILLEGAL.

Oh you mean like next Superbowl, we'll just say, "this year there won't be a winner?"

The whole point of sports is to win. That's not the case in culture. The US is supposed to work towards equality for everyone, not a single winner. Although I have to admit I wouldn't mind being a member of a ruling class. We need to bring back ancient Rome rules. Being a noble would be rad.

Perhaps, but the way we're doing it now, everybody loses. Either you're an oppressed minority and you lose because you're convinced you just need to sit at home and be spoon-fed or you're the oppressor and you have special laws made to persecute you.

What we do in sports reflects what we do in life. We compete, and there will always be a winner and a loser.
Making everyone equal and never having a winner will just take away the incentive to better oneself. We'd have a society full of half wit quiters that just expect to get by on someone else's efforts that are dumb enough to make them because they won't benefit from them anyway. Bad idea.
