I love the Australian media. They pull no punches.
Often characterised as a polarising and combative figure, the 20-year Congressional veteran from Georgia can expect an uneasy reception from social conservatives miffed by his two divorces and ethical missteps.
He has long faced charges of hypocrisy for having led attacks over President Bill Clinton's affair with intern Monica Lewinsky while he himself was having an extramarital affair with a Congressional staffer, Callista Bisek, who later became his third wife (left).

Added bonus: Newt believes 2012 presidential voting will be "rigged."

Perhaps he is having a 2000 flashback.

It might help if you got the quote right.
Obama, the Republican candidate said, however, has the advantages of the presidency, support from the “left-wing media,” and the backing of labor unions and billionaires like George Soros.

Oh really, so we're going to start using marital success as the judgment. Hey, you remember Bill right? President during Gingrich's term? Now, what did he nearly get impeached for?
You wanna go down that road, gabs, we can, but I'd just as soon let it go.

It's not so much about marital success as it is about Newt blasting Clinton for his actions when Newt himself was screwing a staffer. Makes him look like a hypocritical a-hole.

My problem is that it wrong on both sides. Your marital status has nothing to do with your capability to lead, and in fact, many of the best leaders have been through divorces, or may never have married.

Republicans can win this one, but they're going to have to pick someone decent.
Honestly this reminds me of when Kerry ran against Bush. Bush was unpopular and the election was the Democrats to loose, sure enough they ran Kerry and handed Bush another term.
The same thing will happen if the republicans don't get their shit together. This is our election to loose, bambam has done an awful job and needs to get out.

When Clinton was being impeached we were told that his adultery was none of our business... so when Newt did it, why is it different?
I'm not defending Mr Gingrich's adultery. In my opinion that makes him a less than desirable candidate for the Republican nomination.
It was not hypocritical of Newt Gingrich, then Speaker of the House, to be impeaching Clinton... it was his duty.
May I remind some people on this board that Clinton was not being impeached for having an affair. He was impeached for perjury and suborning perjury.
