ALBANY -- Companies in New York moved nearly 408,000 jobs to other states between 1993 and 2007 and, while the state did pick up posts during that time, the net job loss was 148,000, according to a report released Wednesday.
The Empire Center for New York State Policy (http://www.pressconnects.com/article/20101006/NEWS01/10060332/1006/#) found that the loss of 148,000 positions was the largest of any state during that time period. New York has had a net population loss of more than 1.6 million residents since 2000.
"New York has failed to do a good job of nurturing small and start-up (http://www.pressconnects.com/article/20101006/NEWS01/10060332/1006/#) firms that are a crucial source of seed corn for future economic growth," economist J. Scott Moody, who wrote the report, said in a statement.

"Small businesses owners are disproportionately represented among those in the top brackets, and their personal income in may cases is also their working capital (http://www.pressconnects.com/article/20101006/NEWS01/10060332/1006/#)," the report said."
Meaning.. small business owners are most of the "rich" that Obama wants to tax and taxing them will, in effect, cripple small business.
