WHAS11) Protesters in Northern Kentucky are trying to stop the construction of a mosque. Flyers are circulating in Florence, Ky. asking that city government officials intervene.


Currently, Muslims in the area worship out of a rental space and would like a real place of worship. Muslims said the opposition to the mosque is fueled by the debate over placing a mosque at Ground Zero.


Construction is scheduled to begin on the Florence mosque in April, 2011

I find it interesting that you think stereotyping rednecks is OK. I guess bigotry only applies to blacks and gays, eh?

That having been said... While there are Muslims who are tolerant of other faiths, as a general population Muslims aren't exactly the most tolerant people on the face of the Earth. Wherever there are large numbers of Muslims there also exist a huge problem with anti-Semitism.

Muslims tend to hate Jews and, in many parts of the world, Christians as well.

Many Moslems are still pissed off about the Crusades, which happened well over 700 years ago... In that case, Christians ought to be pissed about the fall of Bysantium.

Let's not forget Osama Bin Laden. One of the reasons that he and Al Queda attacked the United States is because they considered the stationing of our troops in the Middle East to be a violation of the Moslem Holy Lands.... in other words to them NO infidel should be setting foot anywhere in the Middle East.

In many Moslem countries, religious tolerance does not exist... period... unless if you are Moslem.

Muslim countries are not exactly tolerant of women's rights... I guess LN seems to forget that being a lesbian and all...

Some countries with the worst human rights records are Moslem nations (they, of course, can't hold a candle to Communist countries... those countries are in the wholesale business when it comes to killing people)

And let me remind you that Saladin planned on conquering Europe and converting it to Islam. Moslems had pushed up into Southern Spain. They were finally pushed out of Europe in the 1490s.

To many Moslems, it's still about conquering and subjugating the Christian West.

That stuff that's going on in the Balkans... a lot of it is about the ware between Christianity and Islam.
